“What a great Place”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

We stayed two nights at the hotel. It is a restored brother. Five friends stayed here and we took over the attic. We had the big attic room and the three small snugs that had a shared bathroom. The attic room is large and lovely and has air conditioning and a cast iron tub. Every morning we had a chocolate croissant left hanging on our door. The parlour in the main level greeted us with sherry or port and a dessert. We had martinis in the pub with names that reflected the gold rush era. There is a lovely little patio attached to the pub where we sat at well into the morning. It was a great stay and we would love to go back.

A restored brothel, decorated in keeping with the Gold Rush Era; very clean and fairly quiet, especially after the pub closes! Yummy croissants left for breakfast. The deep, long, cast iron tub was worth the price of the room! Very nice, high end amenities. Fantastic comfortable bed with cozy down filled bedding. Within walking distance of all the tourist attractions in Dawson.

Character and Charm abound. There is no better place to stay while visiting the home of the Gold Rush, Dawson City, Yukon. The complimentary Port and Sherry as provided in the parlor before retiring for the evening is just a part of a unique and tasteful experience. Well done!!!

We loved Bombay Peggy's, despite having to call a plumber when the toilet backed up on the second day of our stay!

We stayed in the Attic Room. I know everyone has their favourites, and mine is the Attic. It is spacious and peaceful.

The thermostat was adjustable, which I really appreciated, having come from boiling hot Western Australia to -26 degrees! And the room has a bar fridge with complimentary drinks in it.

A few details were lacking, however. The clock radio and the video player remote were both missing batteries. We had spares for our head torches, so used those rather than bothering reception, but we did take them with us when we left, so the next guests will have had the same problem!

Also, a few of the lights were missing light globes. The Attic relies on wall lighting to illuminate it's cosey corners, so to have 2 or 3 lightbulbs missing did have an impact.

The shower is only hand-held, which makes it difficult to soap yourself or shampoo your hair while staying under the flow of water, but this wasn't a huge problem - I ended up just having baths!

For those who have read about the free croissants for breakfast, I'm not sure they are still on offer. We didn't get any on any of the days of our stay, nor did the others in our party.

Nevertheless, we loved it, and would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: The Attic is the most spacious room in the building. We were there for aurora-watching, which is a n...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Bombay Peggy's. We really appreciate the feedback and apologize for the missing batteries that we must have removed during our winter closedown and forgotten to replace! We've added that to our checklist.

Fresh croissants are delivered each morning to rooms during our high season which runs from June 1 - September 15. During the winter and shoulder seasons we drop our rates significantly and offer a simpler service. We hope you can someday come and stay with us in the summer - the house smells great in the mornings!

As for The Attic and its unconventional set up the lights are on two different switches which is probably why some were not illuminated when you flipped the switch. There is a second switch at the sink that illuminates the lights in one half of the room. During the renovation of the building I remember trying to figure out how to make different lighting arrangements possible in the open concept space and thought this would allow for more control over this. I can see, however, that more explanation by way of signage would be helpful and am in the process of adding this.

Again, I thank you for the review and the opportunity to make improvements.

I fell in love with this beautiful hotel from the moment we pulled up to the curb. It's a restored Victorian Inn with all the charm of home. Everyone removes their shoes at the door. There aren't that many rooms and suites because this was someone's house at one time. Each room is themed, or colored, or decorated differently. We stayed in the Green Room. When I called for the reservation I wanted the Gold Room (seeing this is such a Gold Rush town), but later - I was happy it was previously booked. We had a chance to wonder about, and we got to see some of the other rooms that housekeeping had just finished with. The Gold Room was nice - no sparkle, just painted a yellowish color (not bright, kind of dijon mustard color). Furnishings are gorgeous antiques. Couple of nice touches,... Sherry, Port and Chocolate in the Parlor from about 1pm on through the evening set up for the guests. The Parlor is to the left as you enter. Soooo very quaint! Coffee sits here in the morning. When we opened our door in the morning, there was a handle brown bag with fresh croissants. Nice touch. There's a little fridge in your room stocked with sodas and fruit juices for the taking - comes with the room. I liked that. This is a green hotel and no bottled water is available. Their drinking water is "ok", I suppose. Another neat thing, you simply walk through a doorway towards the back of the house to get to the Pub that's attached. It's a very small pub. Nice wood. Simple fixtures. I really loved Bombay Peggy's.

Room Tip: This is a small quiet hotel and you must call for a reservation.

This boutique hotel has a decor that really makes you feel like you're in the gold rush era. The staff are lovely and the rooms are clean and so lovely. Their attention to detail is apparent when you wake up in the morning to a fresh baked croissant at your door. The Pub is also a lot of fun with a friendly atmosphere and a great place to meet locals and travellers alike. I would love to go back and stay in every one of their uniquely decorated rooms!

Room Tip: Ask for the lipstick room!
