Claim #6 is a spot at Bonanza creek where anyone is allowed to pan for gold for free. You can rent a pan and a shovel for 2 dollars each at nearby Claim #33, and then get going. Basically you just take a bit of earth from across the street, carry it over to Bonanza creek, wash the dirt away and see if you maybe got some gold. The people at Claim #33 told me that someone finds some gold about once per week, so don't expect to find anything (we didn't). If there still were lots of gold to be found it wouldn't be available to tourists. However, it is good fun to relive the experience of the stampeders coming to Dawson for the gold rush, as most of them, like us, were clueless as to how to actually pan for gold, and received only back pains for their labor. It really gives you a feel for what these people went through.
