“Breakfast made to order”
Reviewed June 24, 2011

A really friendly welcome here in what appears at first sight to be more of a small hotel than a b & b - one floor is given over to a number of guest rooms, ours was ensuite and perfectly comfortable. We appreciated the open access to coffee / tea whenever we wanted and the convenient situation close to all of the small town's restaurants, etc.

Breakfast was great, available at any reasonable time within a wide timespan, and cooked to order from a wide choice of items - and always served with a smile. We found that our hosts were willing to go out of their way to be helpful, and doing everything whilst also lookimng after their young daughter who joined guests for breakfast was great to see. Well done - a place well worth visiting - must be amongst the best of Dawson City's accommodation.

We were here 2 times in 1 week (because we did the Dempster Highway). I must honestly say that we almost never met a friendlier person than the owner! It's really incredible how she's taking care of the guests, breakfast, baby and dog at the same time! OK, the rooms aren't the largest one on this planet, but it's a B&B, NOT a luxuries hotel. (Free internet and big TV are in the main hall). And the location is fine, because you don't need a car in Dawson City; just walk around. Our stay was great, also because of the 5th Avenue B&B. Thanks again!

We stayed two nights after canoeing from Whitehorse. It's very clean, and well situated in a quiet part of town, yet within walking distance of everything. Our hostess was absolutely charming, incredible who she juggles serving guests whilst holding her charming baby girl, Madison, great dog too! The breakfast was great, the home made muffins delicious and it was nice to have a cooked breakfast. Our room was comfortable, and there is a small kitchen for guests use as well a a TV lounge. We had a en suite, which was welcome after several nights in the wilderness! Our only criticism was the bed, we found it far too soft was both had back ache the next morning.

We stayed here during the short film festival, and happy we did. Our host was up early, taking requests for breakfast; french toast, eggs, toast, ham. Though we had a small room, it was very clean as well as the shared bathroom. The location isn't super central, but close enough, as Dawson City is a walking town.

We are grateful that our host noticed our flat tire in the morning, got out his air compressor to fill it, and told us of the closest mechanic.

We will probably be coming back here, next time we come to town.

This was a busy and well run place, very clean, nice hostess. She put on a great breatfast - eggs how you want them. It was all well-laid out and managed. there was a sitting roon-kitchen for guests in the entrance and big kitchen upstairs. It was in a handy location in town - a bit of a walk to the main street but not far. We were very comfortable.

Very clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly owners, and good location-- within walking distance of most of the Dawson City sights. We were quite comfortable here; although the room was pretty small, there is a sitting room/kitchen area available for guests to use. I do wish the kitchen area had been advertised ahead of time; it includes a stove/oven/fridge/microwave/sink and is there for guests.

The hosts were friendly, but as it's not a hotel there is not someone behind the front desk at all times. However, it's easy to ring for them if you need someone.

Breakfast was hearty, with lots of selection, and cooked to order. We had a good stay and would recommend it to other travelers!

The hotel is clean and cozy and nicely laid out. The hosts were abrupt and rude to our party. Our party was issued two unsolicited apologies for two separate incidences. As a result of these interactions, we felt very uncomfortable for the duration of our stay. Our sense was that we were clearly in THEIR home and we were not encouraged to make ourselves at home.

A lack of signage or information in the entry way compounded this issue. We were not sure if we were allowed to be upstairs in the dining area at any time other than breakfast. There was a kitchen downstairs but it was unclear if we were at liberty to use it freely. No quiet hours or locking the door policies were stated. We were not told how to contact the hosts for questions and we were not encouraged by the hosts to ask questions. Had we not had such shockingly rude interactions, we may have felt more comfortable asking for clarification.

Breakfast was healthy and hardy (as advertised), however it was very structured. In an area with a couch and TV as well as dining tables, we felt rushed to be seated at the dining table. Our plates were cleared VERY quickly upon completing our meal. We had to ask for a mug or a cup for self serve coffee or juice. It had the feel of a very controlled environment. And we were not encouraged to make ourselves at home, help ourselves to x, take our time eating, take our time after the meal, etc.
