“Unique Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

From the outside it doesn't seem like much, but the Yellow Deli is amazing!! You enter into a magnificent cafe/restaurant with natural wood everywhere. It feels as if you have walked into a little village filled with warmth and aromas of hearty food. The people who run this place are so kind and always helpful. I haven't tried anything I didn't like! I recommend the apple cider on a cold day, the chicken sandwich with avocado, any of the soups and the salad with nut clusters, cranberries, cheese and amazing dressing! I highly recommend the Yellow Deli to everyone, you won't be disappointed!

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

We are staying the weekend in Chilliwack, and spotted this place on the way in. My only regret is that they are closed from Friday afternoon until Monday morning, and we'll only be able to have one meal there. The food is very wholesome and flavorful, the atmosphere is very relaxing. It is run by a community, and it shows in the service- they work as a team to ensure you are warmly welcomed.

“Has to be the most unique cafe in the Fraser Valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

From the outside, the Yellow Deli doesn't garner much attention, so little, in fact that we have lived here for nearly two years, and we only just discovered it (thanks to a local friend). It's located on a busy street, in a not so quant part of town, but once you step inside, you will be transported to another dimension.

Upon entering what is lovingly referred to by some as the "Hippie Cafe", the busy street sounds are immediately muffled by the hand-hewn wood and leather wall cladding. Gnarled tree limbs are fashioned into seats, intricate macrame used as space dividers. Every square inch of the place has been lovingly hand-crafted, much like the menu.

The menu isn't huge, but what is offered is delicious, and mostly made from scratch from local ingredients. Soups, Salads (Cranberry Almond is my favourite), and Sandwiches make up the bulk of the menu options, with a small but delectable breakfast menu, home-style baking and hot and cold (non-alcoholic) beverages.

There are daily specials, which include a daily mixed rice bowl, a daily soup and dessert specials.

Their hours are a bit different than most restaurants:
Monday to Thursday open 24 hrs
Friday they close early
Saturday and Sunday Closed

Their staff is a bit different than most restaurant staff too. No bubbly waitstaff or flirty bartenders here! I think that the restaurant is run much like a co-op, with the staff working together for the common good of their community, or something like that.

Nevertheless, the one-of-kind atmosphere, very pleasant and respectful staff, and small menu/big flavours, makes this one of my favourite cafes in BC.

“chill out with friends and good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

i love the fact that the food is own grown and home made .Nothing is really bought in the store and either from there farms or from farms in the community. The fact that gluten free and healthy eating is one of there main things in the restaurant makes dinning to a great and affordable experience. The teas and coffee are massive and the prices make it a very good value.Going there 24h like5 days a week is a great idea. The breakfast is filling and the dinner is just as much enjoyable. We do have our team meeting s there as the biggest table can seat up to 8 people.the child friendly atmosphere really make sit great for everyone.

“Great fresh and tasty food in Chilliwack - what a gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

I'd seen the bright yellow signs and then heard from friends about the Yellow Deli so when family visited we went there for lunch. What a fantastic place, a very warm welcome and a really cozy and interesting place to have lunch. The craftsmanship of the building and wooden furniture is really incredible and the art of peace and love is interesting and friendly. It kind of reminded me of "middle earth" and it's a bright and sunny place in the summer and cozy and warm in the winter. I was so impressed I ended up going there three times in one week. We had the cheesy salad and the cranberry and granola salad. The ingredients were thoughtfully combined and the dressings were good. For breakfast one time we had the cheese and egg with onions and tomatoes on their freshly baked bread. Stopping in one evening we enjoyed their curried yam soup. I also went next door to the store and bought some great organic carrots and beets and some fresh bread. This is food that I would be happy to eat on a regular basis, it's wholesome and tasty - if I couldn't make it myself I'd go there! Really delightful. Only sad thing is that it's not open on weekends, but open from Monday 9am to Friday 3pm - 24 hours a day....definitely a place to visit and enjoy and very family friendly.
