We recently enjoyed a nice meal and theater play here. The meal was nicely done, and the staff attentive. The play was well acted, with appropriate sets. The dinner is upstairs in a well organised manner, with decent menu items set out in a buffet style. The downstairs theater is modern and with good acoustics, and is quite comfortable to watch a play in. \All in all, it was an enjoyable evening out, in a well laid out theater in a quaint little town.

“Singing in the Rain production was worthy of any London stage, exciting, energetic, funny, singing/dancing were amazing.”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Chemainus Theatre is a beautiful building in itself which offers lunch or dinner before a production. The food was excellent and service beyond reproach in a beautiful and very clean dining room. Restrooms were clean and well appointed. Gift shop had a variety of beautiful items to admire and buy. Singing in the Rain was extremely entertaining and extremely well produced. The actors and actresses gave 100% of themselves to their part and played it with high energy and zest. The costumes were great, and the props staff were adept at changing the set and mopping up the rain! I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend everyone to see a production by this gifted group of thespians.
The town of Chemainus is equally attractive with many boutiques, bistros, and the 'footsteps trail' around a beautiful town that shows the many artistic, colourful and original murals depicting local history and heritage.

“Impressive as always”

We return year after year for this theater's musical productions - they are amazing! I do not recommend the buffet (which looks good, but caters mostly to bland, senior tastes), however there are several very good restaurants around town which offer a variety of cuisines. The afternoon theater paired with a leisurely walk throughout the community of Chemainus makes for an always interesting outing for us and the kids. Highly recommended for families.

“Great plays and over the top dinner!!,,,”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Had do much fun going to "Singing In The Rain" last night and dinner beforehand. $112 was the price for two theater tickets, and the buffet dinner. We were shocked and excited when we saw the buffet with its gorgeous main courses and vegetables and salads. The chef was greeting guests and told me he works diligently to buy locally and as much organic food as he can get. The kale caesar salad was a great and delicious surprise . The mixed green had edible flowers. I asked if he would put out olive oil and balsamic, and he was thrilled to do so. Main courses included original recipes for chicken, a lasagne with spinach...cream cheese and local shrimp, fresh fish with crushed pumpkin seeds, and fresh cut to order roast beef plus escargot sautéed right in front of us when we ordered it. The desert buffet was beyond belief with every type of bar cookie, make your own fresh sundae, chocolate fountain for marshmallows and fresh berries, lemon meringue and pecan pie, creamy cheese cake and fresh local berries including blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. The buffet can be eaten without going to the play for a great price, but the combo is especially nice. There are three seatings for dinner.

Best to call for reservations because the staff is so helpful. Loved everything about the evening. So did our friends.
