Owner description: A two-lane scenic highway passes both the Pacific Ocean and rugged mountain peaks.

If you are looking to replicate the driving thrill of the Stelvio or Furka passes in the Alps or Angel's Crest in CA, the Sea to Sky Highway will disappoint you. The wide, sweeping roads give the distinct impression that exceeding the speed limit to add a level of driving excitement would attract unwanted attention from the local constabulary.
However, there is no denying that this route represents one of the greatest compact North American scenic powerhouses that you can enjoy from a car. Sweeping vistas greet you at every corner -- it's a beautiful drive. Just note that it's a paradise-like drive, not a driver's paradise.

Once you reach the section that heads north along Howe Sound, you're in for a visual treat at every turn. Do as we did and trade of driving up and back from Whistler - that way the driver can rubberneck for half of the drive. Just tremendous scenery, excellent roadway, and some breathtaking overlooks built into the side of the highway. A must see.

While many define the Sea To Sky Highway as that section of Highway 99 from Vancouver to Whistler, and while that section of roadway is indeed a very scenic drive, it is not until after continuing to travel beyond Whistler northward towards Kamloops on Highway 99 that the trip gets really dramatic. If you haven't driven the entire highway 99, you haven't really experienced one of the world's top drives.

This highway has been upgraded since I visited it last. At every turn you see the power and majesty of God. No artist can draw such beauty from his imagination. It is a melodious symphony of sights .... trees and mountains, the sea and valley, lakes and waterfalls. Oh My God. How wonderful is this place? How can a two hour drive have SO MUCH beauty?

Take a slow drive. Stop anywhere you like (safely of course) and take in the most beautiful sights and true peace of this world. It is rare. We are priviledged to have it.

I could not have done it better myself and now declare: God.... you are the greatest Creator.

We drove the sea to sky highway from downtown Vancouver to Pemberton on the 17th may. When booking our holiday we were unaware of the May long weekend bank holiday and we were shocked with how little traffic was on the highway. We just drove along at the speed like it enjoying the views and let all the local people speed past us it didn't bother us just going at our own pace and we never felt rushed.

The views were amazing the whole way up the highway. We stopped whenever we got the chance just for a look and the occasional photo. Having Shannon falls, brandy wine falls and nairne falls to stop at was incredible but ill review them separately.

If you have the chance this is a must do specially if you get good weather. We were gone all day on it and stopped at horseshoe bay for sunset.
