We stopped for lunch today and was quite surprised at the wonderful atmosphere, The staff was really busy but took the time to spend quality time with each table. The food was excellent, large portions, reasonably priced and quite fast.
I had one of the best clubhouses I have ever had, hubby had a classic omelet and loved it. The staff is very friendly. This is a hidden gem in Red Deer one we will certainley return to.

We had lunch here this weekend while stopping through Red Deer on our way to Stettler from Calgary. This diner was so highly rated on Urbanspoon that I just couldn't pass it up!

Queen's Diner gets a 11/10 for decor. I absolutely adore the 1950s style furnishings, which is incredibly charming. From the moment you step inside, you feel as though you've instantly been transported back in time. The staff were friendly and I love the small town mentality in the diner. The staff seemed to know a lot of the customers (and vice versa) and chatted with them congenially. I've never eaten in a diner before, let alone one adorned in 1950s decor and now I can confidently say that I have.

The menu is basic and serves typical diner food: burgers, sandwiches, breakfast, etc. The food is cooked well with generous portions and modest prices. My clubhouse sandwich was a monstrosity and I could barely fit it in my mouth, let alone finish. I struggled to finish even half the sandwich. The fries were delicious! But then again, I am a huge fry lover, especially when they are drenched in Heinz ketchup. My boyfriend ordered the bacon and eggs breakfast. Again, portion sizes were huge and it was challenge to finish.

I had a really good visit to Queen's Diner but I have to be honest: the food isn't spectacular nor is it terrible. I think a lot of the allure comes from the retro decor and the diner aspect. If you're looking for a good wholesome restaurant with great decor and equally great service, I highly recommend giving Queen's Diner a go!

Stepping in to Queen's Diner is like taking a step back in time to the 50's. From the time you pull up to the diner, complete with classic service station & garage next door and a token red phone booth straight out of London, you know you are in for an experience. Once inside you won't be able to resist the nostalgic look of the diner complete with a long counter with tall swivel stools where you can eat and watch the cooks in action. Or, if you prefer, cozy up in the matching turquoise booths under each window. Decked out with old movie posters and pictures of classic cars the atmosphere is like none other.

The food is GREAT and I've never been disappointed. Although the menu selections are pretty standard there is a good variety and it always taste's great and is not greasy. Obviously geared towards their clientele in the industrial park it's the best place to go for juicy burgers, steak & eggs, sandwiches piled high, thick homemade soups and fluffy omelet's. With generous portions and modest prices you can't beat it.

The cherry-on-top to the whole experience though is the staff. You are greeted like you're family, the staff obviously enjoy their regular customers, and the banter back and forth will leave you smiling. My co-workers and I go for lunch/breakfast there every week or so and it can definitely turn a blah day in to a good day. They are fast too so we can be in and out in a half hour if we get there before the lunch rush or we can stay and enjoy dessert and coffee before heading back to the office. In a hurry? Get it to go! Breakfast is served until 11:30am and you want to get there before noon or expect to wait for a table. They are even open on Saturdays. In the summer they have a patio to enjoy and they even host an occasional old fashion drive in with movie.

If you are looking for something different than the usual and food that that is fantastic with the service that lacks in too many other restaurants then the drive over the highway to Burnt Lake Industrial Park is definitely worth the experience!
