This past weekend I stayed one night at the Holiday Inn for a wedding reception. The staff were pleasant and seemed ready for anything, but the cleanliness, or lack thereof, surprised me, as the previous occupant's soap, covered in hair, has left in the shower and the tub was coated in soapscum. My relatives, a family of five, requested a bedroom with two beds, but instead got a single bed for the five of them. This problem went unsolved.

I can't say much else about the hotel, as it was only one night, but maybe next time the bathroom will be cleaner.

We spent one Saturday night here as we met friends from Edmonton for a night away in Red Deer (I know, I know - it doesn't get much more exciting than this!). Our friends chose the hotel and booked the rooms so I had nothing to do with the process.

I was a little leery as we pulled up to discover it's the Red Arrow Bus depot and appears to face a large trucking company. However the stay was quite lovely. The check in process was easy and our two adjoining rooms were exactly as requested.

The rooms have been recently renovated with very nice modern decor, attractive duvet covers and comfy beds. The bathrooms are quite lovely - dark slate tile, large shower with dual shower heads, marble counter tops etc. My only raised eyebrow is with the very dark (black?) slate tile that covers the floor and the shower walls - while it all appeared to be clean, my inner squeamish voice was a little curious to know if it was actually clean or if the colour palette was chosen for it's hiding properties? However, in fairness, it all seemed quite clean, modern and lovely.

Yes the breakfast is not a gourmet selection but I found it comparable to other hotels that offer a complimentary breakfast. Being a toast and fruit person, myself, I highly appreciate the opportunity to help myself to something small and quick and avoid overpaying and wasting time waiting for the same food in a restaurant.

Overall, this was a highly enjoyable stay. I handily recommend this hotel as a reasonable, modern, comfortable hotel stay. I'm quite fussy and I would definitely stay here again.

In Red Deer on business. Great service at check in. Very nice lobby.

The hotel had just finished renovations, and the halls were very very nice, already impressed!

Double queen room, with very modern decor, inclduing a very nice modern stainless steel sink and faucet. The Coffee Crisp and Smarties on the table were a nice touch.

Comfortable beds with nice duvets. Internet access nice. Great service.

Only downside was my view of an industrial roof.

All in all hotel is nice, new, and very modern! Great stay.

Just got back from our stay in Red Deer ( March 17-18th) had a double room facing the truck lot.

Good Points: Room was Not expensive (99.00 with tax booked early.) Room had nice looking, modern linens with lots of pillows. Every tv channel and LOTS of pay movies. NO MICROWAVE OR MINIFRIDGE! Bathroom was OK found a few stay hairs (yuck) but nothing too bad.

GOOD POINTS: You can walk 2-5 minutes to Starbucks (***GREAT IDEA FOR BREAKFAST YUMMIES!!!**, beer store, cash casino - good burgers for under 6.00, and a grocery store.

OK POINTS: Yes there is a swimming pool - not the biggest, and Only 3 feet deep??? JUST KEPT WARM ENOUGH to get into. I imagine younger kids would find it OK.

THere is a games room just outside the pool with a pool table and foose ball game.

There is a Sports bar with VLTS not seedy - they have beer and mixed drinks no slush drinks. The other bar is closed down.

Room service - SLOW, but they did bring up pie and ice cream under 4.00. (not bad.)

BAD POINTS: HOT TUB - is NOT HOT only WARM with pathetic jets...a real let down!!!

SMITTY"S: Service took an hour for pancakes (most items over 10.00???) Pancakes were like crumbly cake??? Coffee was GROSS - Like tea and tasted bad!!! They ran out of OJ??? Our table and table next to ours complained...manager removed 2.00 for coffee...wow.

NOISE: Lots of families and pets staying in rooms...heard lots of "BANG BANG BANG" of doors and kids running running running down hallways.

FREE BREAKFAST: A SMALL room, very cramped...like the size of a small office??? They had dry looking turn overs and some cereal, toast...too cramped for us!!!

Anyways...the rooms are fine just eat meals elsewhere.

This hotel was not only easy to locate from the highway, it is also has a very modern, upscale look to it. The decor was beautiful and had a lot of both natural and artificial light. Staff at the front desk, and in the restaurant, were genuinely friendly and helpful. I felt like I stayed at a luxury hotel without the $200 price tag that usually goes with it.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in September 2005. The hotel itself could not be faulted, the room was as you would expect from a Holiday Inn, with a nice kitchenette and bathroom.

We ate in the restaurant on 1 occasion and found the food to be of a good standard and value for money.

The only complaint we had was the building work being carried out near the hotel, which started before 7 am.

This hotel is more for business travelers and people passing through Red Deer, due to the location.

I stayed 4 nights at this great hotel. It's had much money invested in upgrades, and it shows. In my room, everything seemed to be relatively new. Hotel guests get access to the fitness club lower level which is well equipped. The free morning breakfast buffet is a good deal.
My only beef? The hotel windows were sealed. Regardless, I'll definitely return.
