Booked 4 rooms poolside May1,2013 for Aug, 30&31, to be together. Upon arrival was told one room will not be with the rest someone stayed the night before and decided to stay so our family was split up. Received coupon for breakfast for inconvience but now know every check in receives these. Our room smelled of mildew, after them spraying the rooms 3 times I asked for a fan.Air conditioner was filthy ,clean air cannot possibly get thru and did not work.Had to keep the doors open could not stand smell. The other 3 rooms had to have the bedding changed hair on the sheets and one had to be changed again once changed for more hair(check your sheets)Needs upgrades badly and proper cleaning, There are 4 families that you have just lost our business after staying there for years.

Room Tip: maybe check out the rooms before taking the key

My wife and I have had very good experiences with this hotel. In our recent stay the staff were quick and happy to accommodate our request to move to a quieter area of the hotel. They even offered to help us move our things. The following morning we requested a late check- out, which was easily granted and way later than we had expected to get. The service we have been provided with while staying at the Lodge has been phenomenal! The hotel and pool area may be dated and in need of some reno's and updating, but that didn't take away from our experience at this hotel. The only downside we had with our booking, was in the times that we called the hotel to book or confirm the room, we were often put on hold for a very long time.

Stopped here for 1 night on Aug 19 and check in was so so. We had a pool side room that came with pizza, do not and I mean do not get the pizza here or the package with the pizza as it is made from the hotel buffet where they just use ready made crusts and the toppings are terrible, better to buy a frozen pizza and let it thaw in your room. Pool area was right out of control as a group of teens were having teen fun but with a young family it was very dangerous, oh yah and no pool attendant just because. Talked to the front desk and they didn't do much about it. Stam room doesn't work and it is very slimy and disgusting. Pool deck area is horribly dirty and pool wasn't working, can only hope they are starting to fix things up because it is very dirty. Do not recommend spending the money for this over rated hotel. Save your money as the service and little extras are definitely lacking compared to other hotels.

We stayed at the Medicine Hat Lodge in August 2013 for a night while driving home to Manitoba. Having stayed here many times before, we were surprised by how much the hotel has deteriorated since we last visited several years ago.

The rooms are very dated and had a musty smell upon checking in. We turned on the AC and opened a window to air it out, but the smell remained.

The pool area lacks showers for guests, even though staff instruct you to shower before entering the pool. The men's change room had two showers, but the tap to turn them on was missing and only a rusted bolt stuck out of the wall from where they should be. There was also mold forming around the change room tiles on the walls and floors. The hot tub was luke warm and didn't have jets, and the water level was very shallow and came a little above your waist while seated (for an average 5'12" man).

This hotel needs some renovations to keep up with its competitors, who are quickly popping up around the lodge with brand new, multi-storey hotels.

The best part of our stay was the food. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets offered many great options to choose from.

Everyone at Medicine Hat Lodge is wonderful, friendly, helpful, and just really nice people. They turned our bad luck into a great time for my children, in returned made it easier for my husband and I while trying to get back on the road. A BIG thank you to Candice and at the front desk and all the staff in general :)

Room Tip: We had a room with two queen sized beds and got an extra cot and still had room for the five of and...

We were not able to get a poolside room this time around but have reserved one for the next trip to the Hat. The kids could have stayed in the pool all day. We had a second floor pool view room, which was nice, but we missed having a window to outside to get some fresh air. Those rooms get hot, we had to run the A/C continuously.

The MGrill was delicious, we ate there twice. The Jungle café had a wonderful breakfast that was included with the room, lots to choose from. We really enjoyed the soup and sandwich bar for lunch as well.

Our biggest complaint was the pillows, they are huge, hard on the neck! And the cleaning staff is a little bit too efficient, taking things that would seem like garbage but we had actually hoped to keep, for example shoe boxes from dress shoes we had just purchased.

Room Tip: If you have kids, ask for a poolside room in front of the waterslides. You will not have to listen...

Not ranking high on our list of nice places to stay. We are world travellers. We would rank this place at the low end of our experiences. Dated room, old mattresses, cardboard towels, unvacuumed carpet, dreary room decor, ripped wallpaper, scratched and dented furnishings, paper thin sheets, smelly pillows, mediocre food in grill, smokers at entrance.
