“hidden in the jungle !”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

recently, i have been there. it was an excellent outing spot. u have to leave everything behind to go there, as ur vehicles dont go in the jungle, very weak mobile range, which makes you go near to the Nature, literally. anyway, the resort and the ambiance was outstanding. it was so nice, that we can overlook some things like lack of room service and a bit non tasty food. the charges were quite high, but are justifiable for such remote place in jungle.
Note for Jain people : - take your food with you. though they make it for you, still the restaurant is a mix restaurant which many people may not like it.

Room Tip: choose the valley view or waterfall view rooms. though they charge higher for that, its worth.

We stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days as two families with kids. Great location. We took two rooms, one duplex overlooking the cliff and another one inside among the jungle. I would recommend the duplex room, not just for thier layout and view, but also for the price you pay. The service is not great - the staff are nice, but are not trained properly to conduct themselves in a resort of such scale. We also went on the half day trek, which was good. The food was the highlight for me as it was local cuisine and very homely. Don't expect rich food on any day. Here comes the scary part of the trip....our last night there, i looked up lying in the bed of our room in the jungle and found a snake hanging from the cieling with a reptile in its mouth ! The staff were quick to assist in removing the snake and we moved to the other room to sleep for the night. Recommend travelling in off season to get best prices, but if you are someone who wants luxury and relaxation, would not recommend this place.

Room Tip: If you can go for the duplex rooms on the cliff.

Staying at Wildernest is actually an experience of living in the wild which gets intensified if you have the monsoon for company. When we landed there end of May, the place welcomed us with its first heavy pre-monsoon shower which lasted 3 hours. The whole place smelt fresh and dare I say , a bit chilly. Sprawled over many hilly acres, the property sits smack bang at the trifecta of three states-Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. The cottages , dining hall and the open-air bar is in Maharashtra but the car-park (and the entry )is in Goa. You can also easily slip into Karnataka during the post-breakfast 3 hrs forest treks organised by their guides to a lovely waterfall that comes alive only during the rains. Thanks to the 3 hr shower, the fall had plenty to offer even then. The cottages are quite cosy and generally well maintained; they could however do with some clever spring cleaning and the odd bit of fixing obstinate door handles or mend broken wiremeshes which keep insects and other crawling nasties at bay. Beacuse of the rains and the less-than-effective insect proofing, our cottage played host to lots of moths, ants, a big black spider and other unidentifiable arachnids come dusk. Though it wasnt a major issue ( they all disappear in a few hours), it does get a tad creepy. Tip: Carry bug spray with you and some insect repellant body cream. Though the staff do a good job of cleaning the rooms, they can make it more effective by adding a dash of lemongrass oil into the cleaning water before swabbing. It keeps the insects away. The swimming pool ( aptly named Infinity) was simply great with breathtaking views of the valley. Even hydrophobiacs would find stepping in irresistible. The food is good too : a lot of variety and quite appetising ( thankfully no bloat-inducing soda) and the dining hall also screens willd-life films before dinner ( for those who haent had enough of NGC and Animal Planet). All in all,a nice and quiet place for a retreat with nothing fancy to do except walking amid tropical forests, swimming or wading in the pool, unwinding at the bar, playing games with loved ones or simply enjoying the sounds of nature. Tip: Do carry a good torch for power blackouts and to see your way through at night

Its a beautiful location, the place is serene. It has been maintained as being in jungle. Most of the cottages are hidden in the bushes and trees and not in view from common pathways. The valley views are awesome and the climate was good though it was mid summer. This place must be heavenly in the rains. Food was good and only Indian. They have activities which are interesting. If you go with toddlers you might have to take special care and precautions for all those bumps and falls. Our cottage had a balcony but it was totally not okay for children as it was too dangerous. It just has bamboo railings.

The pool has amazing views.

Wildernest place worth a visit.

Had read about Wildnernest in one of the travel magazine and from that day onwards Wildnernest, Chorla Ghts has been on our wish list. Though they say its goa (infact it is), it lies on the borders of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra..We went there early March and was left completly enchanted by its beauty. We had taken the forest view room and felt like we were staying right in midst of a jungle. The rooms were expectionally clean and staff courteous. The highlight of this place is the restaurant and food. Honestly one of the coolest restaurant i had visited, it faced the hill on one side.. The staff had organised for a couple of forest trails and let me tell you it is a birdwatchers paradise. You can also feel an occasional wild animal amongst your vicinity. The place needs to be visited during the monsoons, it would be so green that you would find the trees happy!!!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves adventure and nature.

Room Tip: We had selected the forest view and we loved it.

you are in the wild, truly WILD!!! so much that at night you hear all sorts of scary sounds.

My wife and I had been to wildernest for our 1st anniversary. And it truly turned out to be a pleasant stay. Enough things have been told on how good the property is. Their USP turns out to be their amazing infinity pool that opens up to a vast hill range and valley. They can still make it more infinite but they do not want to cut the trees for it.

Most impressive!
1. The location, we travelled during the peak summer season and yet it was pleasantly cool
2. Swimming pool
3. Undisturbed peace you get while you stay
4. Alternative nights you get to see folk dances and wild life movies. it really adds to the theme specially the movies.
5. Not sure why most of the reviews here were telling about average food. we found it ranging between average and good, scale leaning mostly towards good.

Not so impressive!
1. The staff is good, but not very courteous. They hardly smile. The management should make effort to have atleast one good head of staff who makes sure he/she is there at the site just to give the guests a warm and courteous smile.

2. Clearly avoid if they put in any plantation trip in your package. It is good but not worth a 50 km ride on a open jeep. you tend to drain yourselves out after.

Some things to watch out!
1. Since you are in wild, you expect some uninvited guests (though not so harmful). before sleep we had clean out the sheets as there was one annoying lizard who was suffering from bad stomach, i guess

2. If you tend to visit when there is a big group, then you are out of your luck. We were lucky enough to confront a big noisy group on the last day of our stay. The entire setup loses its sheen if you dont find peace. The staff also does not make any attempt to stop these noisy bunch even after repeated requests.

3. It depends which season you want to go. We went during summer (which happens to be there off season) which was really good. I am sure the property looks amazing during the monsoons, only worry may be of the roads that leads to it and also since you tend to go on some treks during the stay it might not work out. The resort says winters are the best. I feel the best time is to go during the time when the monsoons are done with and the winters are being welcomed, its then you get to see the greenest side of the valley with many water falls.

4. No room service. But i feel its good that way as it does not really make sense to get disturbed. and if you need anything its always good to go to their restaurant which is a really great place to meet new people.

I would have gone for an Average rating, but somehow I started to miss the resort while we were driving back after our 3-day stay. So going for a 4 star, just because the resort makes you miss it. We were planning for a second visit already at the 2nd day.

Room Tip: Valley view rooms during summers and Waterfall during monsoon and winters
