Description: Welcome to our "cabin in the woods", Tekarra Restaurant, Jasper's fine dining experience since 1952. Chef Dale Nutt, and owners Mike and Cyndi Day, created a menu inspired by regional products such as Alberta bison and AAA beef, Wild Boar, free run chicken, and Arctic Char. Our appetizers feature small and shared plates and follow the same theme with meat and cheese boards, house smoked trout, and deviled eggs with bacon jam, to name but a few. Our service team, led by Jesse Lent, are here to ensure you have an enjoyable, relaxing dining experience. Cheers!

“great food and experience”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

This restaurant deserves its rating. Had a memorable dinner there. The duck and lamb entrees were perfectly cooked and delicious. Wait staff was very professional, they were there when needed but not in the way. Not cheap but the portions were very reasonable. Highly recommend it for a special dinner occasion.

“Top food in Canadian Rockies”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

The rustic dining room has great character, but also had us wondering if the food quality had been 'oversold' as was the case at other establishments on this trip. But Tekkara delivered delicious and creative dishes that made us wish we could try everything on the menu! The scallop with crispy pork belly and citrus is a great fusion of flavors and our favorite starter. The rack of lamb was outstanding as was the Arctic char. Friendly and knowledgeable service throughout. Very glad we did not miss this spot on our visit!

“Very good...but did not meet expectations”
Reviewed July 25, 2013 via mobile

It's possible that some of the reviews here raised my expectations too much for Tekarra. We chose this as our "big dinner" during our recent anniversary trip. While the quality of our food was all very good (enjoyed lobster roll, salmon trio, venison and lamb) nothing blew us away. Also, the service was very clumsy (lack of menu familiarity, rushing us at some points then disappearing for a half hour). Finally, I found the wine selection very poor for a high end restaurant. In particular, there were only three reds by the glass. None were bad choices but they were uninteresting standards (California cab sav, Malbec, Pinot noir). I would still visit this restaurant again, particularly since it is a convenient location when staying at Alpine Village, but my expectations have certainly been adjusted.

“Excellent dinner”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

What an absolutely fabulous place!! A very chic environment and truly excellent food. The price was moderate and service top notch. I would ceratinly love to go back. Sadly we will probably not be in the area again but I would really reccommend this wonderful restaurant. A 5 star experience.

“Creative. High Quality.”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

Restaurant is rather noisy, "busy" and rustic. - Not a sophisticated romantic environment. Service was attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was unusual and creative. Ingredients are clearly excellent. Some dishes were truly delicious... eg Sous vide venison was the best venison I have ever tasted (but the venison is imported from New Zealand!!!!- 12,000km!) and scallop with crispy pork belly was equally delicious as a starter. Other offerings were less successful - the sous vide bison was not as good as bison carpaccio offered elsewhere and the duck was tougher and rather tasteless. So, worth a visit. Choose carefully!
