We arrived and got into line for the buffet. As we approached the buffet, we were told by a tour bus driver that we wouldn't be allowed to choose from the buffet as it was for tours only. We got up to the front and while standing in front of the prime rib and salmon, ordered our fish burger and fish sand chips. Another couple behind us were told they could order from the buffet. "Just choose what you want and I'll tell you how much." She said "rice and 2 pieces of salmon." The server said angrily, "forget it, I'm not selling you just that" and walked away!
Honestly!

The servers were excellent. The food was average. But when I called the manager 5 days later to ask him why I was double charged he treated me like a moron. In my opinion, he just doesn't understand how to relate to the consumer. He must have other good qualities though to be running the only restaurant in Maligne Canyon for miles.

Be sure to pack a lunch if you're headed up to Maligne Canyon, you definitely don't want to eat anything coming out of this restaurant! On top of having terrible food quality, the staff are unhelpful and unaccommodating. They wouldn't even fill up a water bottle, instead you had to buy their bottled water.

We hiked from jasper park lodge 10km so it is nice to have a large clean restaurant. But the food is cafeteria. Of course it is pricey as they probably pay big rent to parks canada. The bathrooms were clean and coffee hot. Stop whining people!

The canyon was worth a visit and we were surprised to find the cafe open. Two male staff were playing a board game which we disturbed to be served. The place stank of stale cooking oil, but we only wanted a hot drink, can't spoil that surely! Oh yes you can, foul, all the milk was off. Couldn't stomach the place for a second longer and walked out.
