“Brilliant boat trip - not enough time on Spirit Island”

Maligne Lake Cruise
Certificate of Excellence

Attraction details
Owner description: Maligne Lake is the largest glacially formed and fed lake in the Canadian Rockies and those remnants of the last Ice Age still cling to the cliffs, rest in the cirques and cap off the pinnacles of Maligne Lakes' fabulous ring of 3,360 meter mountains. It is the melt waters of those glaciers that give the lake its' lovely, tranquil-blue colour and that backdrop of lofty peaks which holds back the busy world and provides a calming wilderness experience. World-famous Spirit Island, on Maligne Lake is the heart and soul of Jasper National Park. Accessible only by boat this diminutive icon of the Canadian Rockies is the destination point of the scenic Maligne Lake cruise. The worldwide fame of Maligne Lake is historically and intrinsically bound to the art of Photography. Diminutive Spirit Island, resting in the hall of the Gods at the south end of Maligne Lake is, arguably the most photographed locale in the Canadian Rockies.

“Brilliant boat trip - not enough time on Spirit Island”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We decided on a spur of the moment booking on this boat trip to see Spirit Island on Lake Maligne. Yes, it was rather expensive but worth every cent as it was an once in a lifetime trip to one of the most photographed seclusive place in the world. I would recommend getting out of your seat to the decking at the back of the boat where there is plenty of fresh air and uninterrupted views for photography. The crew was great, kept us well informed and even gave us fact sheets due to our hearing impairment. I was slightly disappointed with the limited time of 20 minutes on Spirit Island - 40 minutes would be more appropriate and a 5 star rating! Despite this, a very very enjoyable trip.

Reviewed August 29, 2013

this was something I wanted to do from day one I had painted Spirit Island from a photo and I really wanted to see if it was as beautiful as it appeared. I was not disappointed photos don't do it justice it is more beautiful. But getting there was through the cruise was just the icing on the cake really really fantastic and informative

“Excellent cruise”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

This cruise to Spirit Island is excellent in all aspects. The information you get from the narrator during the cruise is professional. The scenery you see is superb especially at Spirit Island where you cant help yourself but keep taking tons of photographs. However the only drawback is that is really expensive. Had it been more affordable I would have ranked it as excellent.

“Very Scenic”

A great trip on the lake, with great views of the surrounding mountains. The stop at Spirit Island was very short, but you don't miss much.
Allow plenty of time to get there as bear jams can delay you on the way to the lake. It is also worth buying the do the two pass

This really is a must do in Jasper! The views are stunning, and excellent and very interesting boat trip. Quite expensive but on balance worth it as was so good.
