The grounds are lovely but on closer inspection you see couch grass growing in borders especially in the far flung borders, together with saplings making the border outside 144-154 a disgrace.

Having been to their flagship in vancouver we are thoroughly disappointed with the general poor quality of rooms. Not only are the chalet rooms very dated but the noise levels from your next door neighbours rooms will annoy you. We could hear everything from the taps being turned to water running, talking, toilet flushing and thudding. The walls are timber framed with plaster board. Making noise transmission high. It was our honeymoon and coming to the end of our stay so we were heavily disappointed. We have hot water in the bath but our sink hot tap did not work. Thankfully 2 nights pass quickly.
For all these negatives, the hotel is in a lovely location.

To the management, I will be notifying head office of my concerns.

My boyfriend and I recently visited the beautiful town of Jasper. Knowing our vigorous schedule of hiking, horseback riding, and more hiking, I decided it would be wise to include a massage in the lineup. I had booked us two appointments at a downtown Jasper spa, but cancelled them in lieu of the "spa experience" that the Fairmont boasted - sauna, steam room, relaxation room, etc.

We arrived about an hour before the first appointment to take advantage of the amenities and were disappointed to find that some of the facilities were shared with guests and their families who were using the hotel gym and the outdoor pool. Unsupervised children were running from the sauna to the steam room to the showers, towels were piled high on every available surface, lotion was smeared across the countertops, the tissues boxes were empty –I could go on, but let's just say, it was a less than what I had been expecting. My boyfriend expressed many of these same occurrences in the men’s locker room.

I decided to move to the relaxation room – an area reserved specifically for guests of the spa. Upon entering the room however, I was once again met with disappointment. There were no glasses for water, the fire had gone out leaving the room with a bit of a chill and all around me there were dirty cups with tea bags laid directly on the table, used napkins, and half eaten brown apple cores. The offered blankets were thrown recklessly on the ground or over the backs of chairs. Luckily I didn’t have to wait too long before my appointment.

The one bright spot of all this was the massage itself. Fallon did a wonderful job with the massage. She went over all the products she would be using as well as explained their health benefits. She also checked in periodically throughout the treatment to make sure the pressure was right. If I had just been paying for (and expecting) a massage I would have been very happy, but I was sold an experience that just didn’t deliver.

Overall, I cannot recommend the Fairmont Jasper spa. The price was double what we would have paid for the appointments in Jasper center. At the time we felt comfortable with that increase because we were under the impression that we would get a better overall experience and trusted the Fairmont brand. My boyfriend and I were both sadly – and expensively - disappointed. But who knows –maybe we just caught them on an off day.
