One of the most amazing drives/rides from Jasper to Banff. Spectacular scenery and wildlife along the whole way, don't forget to stop into Lake Louse.

This is one of the most scenic drives we've taken. The high mountains and sparkling glaciers are awesome. Stop often. Take your time,

The Columbia Ice Field is amazing! Not your usual hike. There are a few ways to get on the Columbia Ice field, depending on how much time you have and what you are looking for. No matter what you decide, you will have an exciting adventure. At the foot of the mountain, right off the highway, there is a large visitors center that operates a hotel and a couple of restaurants. They also sell tickets for various kinds of tours, but most of them can be booked online. The most popular is probably the ice bus tour. They drive a group of tourists in one of those extreme bus-like vehicles with giant wheels to the glacier and let people spend 15-20 minutes on it taking pictures and enjoying the view. The other option is to book a hike. One would need to be in a decent physical condition as those hikes are multiple hour long and require the use of basic equipment like outerwear and clamps. It does get cold and windy up there even in the summer time. But it is not meant for professional climbers, almost anyone can do it.

The Columbia ice field's centre was closed and the Ice field tour ride operator was closed as well as we were there on October 22. Which was disappointing but understandable as tourist season is over. You are still able to park and walk towards the ice fields.

The ability to get great photographs of the various glaciers in the area. For any lover of nature, you have to make a trip to the Columbia ice fields.

Weather was excellent and a unique experience. The time out on the glacier passes quickly but the informative guides keep you entertained while being transported.
