We stayed three nights at the Bear Hill Lodge after four in Lake Louise. The cabin was clean, quiet, very convenient, and the bed was comfy. Everything worked, and the person at the desk was very helpful. We did some laundry here without a hitch. Having a fridge saved a few $ on meals, but, again, after Lake Louise, the food in Jasper is better and cheaper.

We stayed for 3 nights in June having booked a Colin Room (situated above the main cabin) through the internet direct with the hotel (as they only book direct and not through any other agencies/sites). The Colin Room was bigger and advertised as having a balcony, (therefore also more expensive than the detached cabins.)

Check in was ok - not over friendly but professional. Balcony disappointing (was nothing other than a front balcony entrance to your room so not in the least bit private and we didn't even have any outdoor furniture on it. Room was very cosy and nice - spacious with a kitchenette and bathroom inc. whirlpool. Decor was quite old fashioned and the temperature was always warm (red hot when we first entered the building) - the only thing we could do was put air con on or leave the windows open.... never actually turn the heating off?! There was also no phone in the room! The whirlpool was great though and good after a long day walking!

Overall though, a great stay, about 10 mins walk from the main centre of Jasper which was truly fantastic. We just felt that at CAD£175 + taxes per room, they were a little expensive but would still recommend this place for the setting and location. Probably wish we had booked one of the smaller (& cheaper) cabins and been more at one with the wildlife too!

Also - visit Jasper Pizza Place for an informal pizza meal (it was great!), the Whistlers Inn Pub for a great beer and wine and if you want to go White Water Rafting - drive the hour to Mount Robson and raft with Mount Robson White Water Rafting as they were fantastic in all aspects from fun to safety!
