“Reasonable priced but still good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

All accommodation in Jasper is expensive, but we found this place to be reasonable priced, and we were very happy with our 3 nights stay. The room was quite basic, but still good enough, and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was good, especially if you appreciate pastries right from the oven. The location is good, with the city within walking distance, as well as some hiking trails.

My wife, my teenage daughter and I arrived at our room on Friday night. A long burning log was waiting in our beautiful fireplace. We skied all day Saturday and were very pleased to return to our clean and cozy room. The beds are not the most comfortable and some of the fixtures are inexpensive, but so was the room. It was a good deal for the money and we would come again. No breakfast was available at this time of year, but that was made clear during booking. We did not make use of the hot tub, but it was open. We did borrow some cards and games from the front desk. Staff were very helpful.

Nice place. Easy to find. Helpful staff. Clean lodging. Very good kitchen. Great way to save money, eat at home, prepare sandwiches etc for the next day. And sit in front of the fireplace and have a glass of wine. And Elk right out our patio door. Excellent.

A pretty hotel with individual log cabin cottages equipped with fireplaces that felt like staying in a national park property although within the limits of Jasper town. Reasonable rates, clean, good service, lovely location. Clean, crisp air, and lots of outdoor activities within driving distance. Top ones for us were Maligne Canyon and the Valley of the Five Lakes.

The Bear Hill Lodge has multiple chalets and is equipped with all modern amenities (fireplace, central heating, fully equipped kitchen, wifi, ensuite, sauna, laundry room and BBQ area). Our chalet is tucked by the woods provided us with the quietness and serenity we wanted. We even had grazing animals by out patio some mornings! There is plenty of storage area for our clothing and even foodstuff. It is a 5 minute stroll into the centre of Jasper township, and served as a lovely base for our daily excursions around Jasper.

The only downside to our chalet is the lack of soundproofing to the adjacent chalet by the dining table (through the connecting door, which was not utilised and was locked during our stay).

Two nights were not enough. We stayed in the wheelchair adapted cottage and it was wonderful. cozy clean and great amenities. A shortish push into town but far enough out to be a lovely oasis. We had a party of 8 sharing 3 units. Great place to unwind and relax. Oh and very reasonable compared to hotels in Jasper. A real find.

We spent four nights at Bear Hill Lodge in August. We stayed in a Chalet Studio, which had an open floor plan with a double bed and a single bed, and was very spacious for three people.

There was a nice kitchen area with a table, plenty of closet space, adequate towels and linens, and a fireplace. The furniture was older and worn, but the place was very clean. Our chalet had a window in the kitchen and a sliding door leading to a small deck, and when both were running and we had the fan on, our room cooled down quite nicely.

All of our interactions with staff were friendly and helpful. However, WiFi was apparently inconsistent on the property. While our cabin had a quiet location, it did not provide consistent or strong WiFi - ask about this if it's important to you.

Our studio was on a corner location on the property - it felt very quiet and we were never aware of neighbors even though there are many cabins. For us, a cabin located more in the center of the property would be less optimal because of close surrounding cabins. Bear Hill Lodge is on the northwest part of Jasper, about a 15 to 20 minute walk from most restaurants and shops.

We would stay here again.
