I can’t think of a better way to travel from Banff to Jasper. We traveled along Icefields Parkway stopping at some of the scenic places like Peyto Glacier/Lake, Athabasca Falls, as well as the iconic Columbia Glacier Center & Skywalk. Dieter, our driver guide provided excellent narration. The lunch sandwiches that were provided were very good. Very well run efficient tour.

We booked the sightseeing tour of Maligne Lake and Canyon with a stop at Medicine Lake.

Our tour guide (John) was absolutely terrible! First he ignored us at the pickup location, not even checking his list to see if we were on it. Instead he told us another bus would be right behind him to get us. We called the office 20 minutes later and he finally came back to pick us up. Also, this guide really likes the sound of his voice. He had to fill in every bit of silence with nonsense and anecdotes unrelated to the sights and would literally not stop talking at all. At one point he was humming in his microphone to fill the silence.

The bus was for children sized humans and not adults and we were left sitting over the tire humps with zero legroom, boiling hot temperatures and no functioning A/C. The tiny slots in the windows did nothing to ventilate the bus.

This was a 6 hour tour with no food provided and only one stop had food for purchase where lunch for two adults was $60 for salad and a drink.

The only good part of the day was the portion run by Brewster/Pursuit at Lake Maligne. Avoid this tour by Sundog and just go to the lake yourself or use Brewster for transport.

We were promptly picked up at our hotel in town and then traveled out to Fairmont Jasper Lake Resort to pick additional travelers making a medium sized party of about 25 people in a moderate sized tour van. Our guide was informative and tried to locate wildlife among the main highways during the three hour tour. We did have two stops for photos among picturesque views. One stop was at the bald eagle nest where young birds were seen in the trees. Another stop was to view a short presentation of skulls and hides of various animals with an opportunity to handle them. When we did see live animals, the guide was careful to remind everyone to stay in the van. He gave ample time for pictures of the intriguing animals. We saw elk, marmots, bald eagle, and big horn sheep, It did feel like the guide was trying to cover the time to entertain the group when no animals were found with stories, etc. It did seem we drove for quite a lot of the time but the area possibly may require that? The time of the year as well as time of day plays a big part in the success of actually viewing animals. Wish there could be a credit for another tour or discount on original tour if animals are not in view of main highways. I suppose I expected the tour to venture more off the main highway. Glad we had a smaller group that the Greyhound size vehicles that Sundog also drives.
