“Your best choice in Jasper”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

We stayed for 3 nights in the log cabin #6 and were very pleased. It was perfect location for proximity to all that the Jasper area has to offer. Very quiet. Very comfortable bed and chairs. WiFi was not working, but who cares when you are on vacation ?! The lack of a heater in the bathroom area might make a cold weather stay very interesting, but otherwise we did not have enough time to enjoy boating on the lake. Most trails were closed due to bears in the area. Food in Canada is very expensive, so plan your dining out very carefully. Stores in Jasper made the process more better. We will definitely return if our travels bring us back to Jasper.

We stayed 3 nights in a Cavell Suite on our recent trip through the Rockies. The accommodation was very classy with high quality inclusions. The Suite was very spacious and well equipped. The grounds were VERY peaceful and Patricia Lake was lovely (lots of mosquitos though). We awoke early morning to see around 8 deer grazing on the property....an AWESOME sight! There are BBQ's and picnic tables made available to guests. It is just so peaceful.:)

Stayed one night last week. We had a room labelled as a Superior King Room but it was small. The sheets on the bed were old so we asked for new ones and were happily accommodated. Woke up early enough to see Elk grazing outside our door. Later we drank our coffee on the dock by the lake which was like a sheet of glass and surrounded by mountains. Very peaceful and majestic. The buildings itself was old and a bit worn out but the surroundings were beautiful. Room had a fridge, no bath tub, shower only.

We chose Patricia lake bungalows because we wanted a quiet stay by the lake. We stayed at the Spruce suites which was great, from our unit we could see the lake and mountains right from the living area and bedroom. The suite has a full kitchen, spacious living area with fireplace and feels very comfortable. The bedroom size is rather small and has a queen bed. There is also a personal patio area infront of our suite. Parking is just steps away from the suite. I find the grove suites area which is at the corner of the property quieter then the rest of the other cabins area which are quite close to one another. We especially enjoyed taking a stroll down to the dock early morning where we can truly take in the amazingly Patricia lake reflection of Pyramid mountain, the tranquility and calm reflections in the early morning with the beautiful surroundings is simply breathtaking. The thing i find lacking here is the friendliness from the reception staff. No greeting, no warmth, no smiles, just charged my credit card and handover the keys. We stayed at 5 different accommodations throughout this rockies trip and we felt the least welcomed here when we arrived at the reception. It does make a difference to our whole impression of the lodging. Overall still a very comfortable stay at the grove unit.

Room Tip: Stay at one of the Grove unit and request for lake view

We recently had 3 days at the Patricia Lake Bungalows while we explored Jasper. We loved our cosy little cabin as a home base. When we came back from sight-seeing, we were able to sit on the dock to enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the lake. Our cottage was #15 which was directly across from the dock and had a nice view of the lake. In the mornings and evenings when the water was calm, there were fabulous reflections of Pyramid Mountain in the water. The cottage was small but very well stocked with dishes and anything else you might need. Although the cabin was obviously fairly old, it had been renovated to provide a modern bathroom, comfortable sitting area and kitchen. It was great to be able to prepare our own meals although an oven would have been useful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They brought us an extra blanket when requested. The wi-fi reception was sporadic but we used the computers at the office. The laundry room was also much appreciated. The stone fireplace was very large but came on only when the temperature in the room dipped below the set point. The location was very good for accessing nearby attractions such as the Jasper Tram, Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake. We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet of the setting.

We booked a 2 bedroom semi-detached place which was described as "Delux" and "compact" - one of these was wrong and the other was an understatement.

This place is basically a camping ground where the tents have been replaced by buildings, some of which look nice but most are something less. The one we had was essentially a 1960's motel room and there was nothing delux about it at all. Apparently 6 people could stay here but if you tried that you would have to keep your luggage outside. The bedrooms were as small as they could be and ours had no bedside tables, and if you wanted to turn off your reading light without getting out of bed you would have to be a very tall basketball player or have an extendible arm.

There was no place to dry towels, but getting replacements was no problem. The beds were great. There was lounge-type seating for 3 people and a very old but serviceable tv. Outside all was fine and as described.

Wifi was supposed to be available but was not for the 3 days we were there - a couple of computers were available in the basement by the laundry.

The owners of this place should describe the place more accurately on their web site and visitors' disappointment would be avoided.

We stayed in a cabin with one bedroom, another bed in the kitchen area and a bathroom. We nicknamed the cabin the "NBA Suite" because the removable shower head was so high up we could barely reach it and the microwave was up on a little ledge and caused the same problem. We asked the office for a step-stool and we were given one as well as the maintenance man coming to replace the shower head. The shower is extremely small and there was no fan in the bathroom which made for a steamy experience. I will say the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for good WiFi while on your trip this is not your spot. The cabins are very close to Pyramid Lake and just a jaunt into town. There are a lot of elk on and around the property. The trails nearby were closed at this time due to an angry grizzly. It is cheaper to do laundry on site than go into town. The laundromat was small but accommodating. Overall, a clean stay.

Room Tip: Maybe not choose a cabin but go for a Cavelle Suite?
