Even nicer in April than summer with the snow and ice over the water edges. Much quieter at this time of year.

If my memory serves, Athabasca Falls was our last stop in Icefield Parkway before we called the day at Becker Chalet. It is one of the many highly recommended attractions for our Icefield Parkway day trip, the beautiful falls, the limestone canyon, the easy accessible trails. If you look closer, you will see evidences of rocks, cliffs craved by the force of nature in many centuries. Athabasca Falls is definitely one of the must-see in Jasper.

Visited in the spring when it was actually closed for the season. Closed because the the area can't be properly mantained for safety. There's alot of ice and packed snow covering a fair amount of the steps and walkways, making areas slippery and quite dangerous, and these areas cannot be properly maintained hence the "CLOSED" signs. once there do go into the area proceding with CAUTION. It is a fair drive out to this location, so if you chose to see the sight, and the falls are equally beautiful in the spring as in the summer PLEASE BE CAREFUL moving around the area. I don't recommend bringing children until the summer.
Go after the snow and ice has melted, a wonderful spot to visit & worth the drive.

What a spectacular place in the winter! I visited the Falls in the summer a few times but the winter scenery is so dramatic! Looks like a totally different place! Breathtaking beauty! What a photog's paradise. Set against Mount Kerkeslin, the scenery is outstanding! Would def recommend on your way south from Jasper.
