“Good Hotel for a two Day Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2014

We stayed for a couple of days in early June. The hotel is a little out of the town centre, about a 10 minute walk, which is good if you like the peace and quiet. Pleasant enough room overlooking the car park, but we weren't staying there for the views. Perhaps a bit of a makeover to brighten up the place is needed. We had a booking on the Rocky Mountaineer on leaving the hotel and a free shuttle bus to the train station was provided. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Fair value overall. Cannot say if we would stay there again as Jasper itself is not on our wish list of places to return to.

Stayed one night in the Chateau Jasper on a stopover. The hotel is clean, room quite spacious could do with a makeover but with such a short stay its comfortable. Most impressive was the reception special thanks to Kumal who helped us with a travel problem.
As other reviewers have mentioned it is a 10 minute walk to the town and for a short stay this hotel did the job.Once again a big thank you to the helpful staff.

This was an outdated but quite charming hotel quite a way out of town. Very quiet and relaxing – until anyone spoke in the corridor! The bed was good but the bath was a bit odd. Pool and spa not tested out. The buffet breakfast was awful. A great positive was the free shuttle to the train station. I can’t comment on price as it was part of a package.

Stayed here 3 nights and found the staff helpful at reception when I enquired about local services, bike hire, attractions etc. The hotel is a 10 min walk from downtown which I personally like as it means peaceful nights. The rooms are dated in decor but ours was spotlessly clean. Our room was 3 doors from the maids/ staff room on the second floor which one morning held about 20 people all talking and laughing very loudly presumably all on a break, which had we been closer would have been unacceptable and would have normally woke us up and wifi in the room was a bit hit and miss. Would stay here again though.

Arrived here after a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer train. Check in fairly quick. Informed we had been upgraded to a suite. Large room and bathroom. Plenty of toiletries. However we soon realised that the room was right next door to the lift. On enquiring at reception if the lift was noisy at night we were told yes a bit, and suggested ear plugs might be helpful! In fairness it was not too bad after midnight until around 5.30am. Bed looked slightly rumpled, but clean, if un ironed sheets. Went to request a change to our original room, but was told the hotel was now full and therefore we had to stay in 203 I think it was.
Breakfast ok, nice waitress. Think this hotel could do with a refurbish, it is very tired looking. Do not think I would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from lift as it's noisy.

The room, though large, was rather shabby and a bit grubby. The ceiling tiles in the door area were all damaged and had holes, the bed linen was creased and untidy and the pillows had a faintly unpleasant body smell. Charming is not a word that I'd use to describe this hotel and wouldn't stay here again unless there was no other option.

Someone else has mentioned the shortage of convenient power points and I have to agree. The kettle had to be plugged in at floor level with the kettle standing on the carpet. The reception staff were less than friendly and not responsive to any issues that arose but the waitress in the restaurant at breakfast time was wonderful.

Forgot to mention that the room was not serviced well each day with rubbish bins unemptied, bath mats taken away and not replaced and carpets not hoovered. I could go on.

Just stay somewhere else.

Lovely hotel, good facilities, but some of the staff both in Reception and in the Dining Room were unhelpful and very abrupt. Some lessons in Customer Relations would not come amiss.Told by our Travel Agent to ask Reception to check with on travel and were abruptly told that there was a telephone at the other end of Reception.Very unhelpful!!
