We stayed in the Chateau Jasper for 3 nights. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Jasper. The hotel does look a little out dated but we were very lucky and were upgraded to a suite which was amazing! We had a lounge area with a comfy sofa and big bedroom, a massive bathroom with an enormous bath, big enough for a whole family to wallow in!
The hotel restaurant was excellent and the waiter was particularly attentive and very friendly as are most of the Canadians we met.
We didn’t use the pool but it looked clean and inviting.
I think we would have preferred to be in a hotel closer to town but apart from that we found the Chateau Jasper to be very good and good value for money

Chateau Jasper is a nice hotel in Jasper. Our room was old fashioned but in good condition and very clean. The bedroom was OK, the bathroom functional. The pool is OK... Perhaps a little small. It is a little bit of a walk into the main shopping bit.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with my wife. The hotel provides free wi-fi and parking, and also free local calls. The hotel room was spacious and clean, and the decor was in keeping with the character of the hotel, although it was not as modern as other hotels. We booked a double room which had two double beds in it, as well as a very handy fridge and seating area. We booked on a room-only basis, but we decided to have breakfast in the hotel on one of the mornings. The hotel provided a buffet style breakfast, with the choice of a continental breakfast for $9 and there was the option to add bacon, sausages, scrambled egg etc for $16. The breakfast was very nice, although a little overpriced, however we later found this to be comparable to other hotels. The hotel staff were friendly and obliging, and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the front of the hotel for a nicer view!

Highest prices we paid on our whole vacation but I guess that's supply and demand at work. Not sure why they were so highly rated in trip advisor - but haven't seen the others on the list. The lobby was very nice and I had my hopes up, but stepping into our room was like going back about 40 years. Haven't seen furniture and mattresses like that in a long time. It was clean and we did manage to sleep pretty well after adjusting to the elevator and hallway noise. Jasper National Park was gorgeous.

We were looking for a place to stay on our drive from Vancouver to Edmonton in August and decided to enjoy an evening in Jasper.

Of course, Jasper in August can be very busy (and we had not planned long in advance) so when we found an avail room at the Chateau at a decent price we were, frankly, a little skeptical. Well, when we checked into the room we were pleasantly surprised.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They, in fact, upgraded us to a large room/suite that had a wonderfully large bathroom. Room was very clean and quiet and the King size bed was very, very comfortable.

The location, just a few blocks away from the main part of the town, gave us the great excuse of a walk to dinner after a long drive, so perfect location for a summer evening.

We stopped by the hotel bar on the way back in the evening and was greeted with extra friendly service and OK pricing for a resort hotel.

Would we stay there again (is how we like to rate hotels) and the answer is yes.

Room Tip: Rooms on the very front of the hotel will have sound from the trains. Parking underground is very...

We have stayed here previously and have enjoyed the experience - hence our return visit.

We arrived a bit early and our room wasn't ready but the staff on reception were very helpful and looked after our luggage whilst we went into town for a spot of late lunch. When we returned we found that we had been given an upgrade - very much appreciated, thank you.

The room was great and the staff were helpful.

The restaurant food is unspectacular but decent fare, my wife had a special of trout and proclaimed it delicious. Breakfasts were decent value.

To those criticizing the need of room updating, all I can say is be glad you didn't stay in a room like we had at the Marmot Lodge the night following this stay. My husband and I are above average size, so we always request either a king bed or if that is not available, a room with 2 beds. Since Chateau Jasper had no kings available at the time, we were given a standard room with 2 double beds on the first floor. The room overlooked the back of the hotel, and was, therefore, quiet. While the furniture was not brand new, it didn't appear exceptionally old but the style was what I'd call traditional (rather than modern) which may make it seem more dated to some minds. The room was very clean and very spacious as well. The bathroom was also spacious with a sink and vanity/mirror full length of one wall, it also had a separate dressing area (opposite the closet which, by the way, housed an in-room safe) with a second sink, vanity and mirror. That was a real bonus which meant I could fix hair, makeup etc at the same time my husband was showering/shaving. The vanities and shower surround were cultured marble (in good condition) rather than granite, but I don't consider that a sign of being outdated so much as a case of budget. The old dilapidated laminate at the Marmot Lodge the next night, now that was a bathroom in need of updating. The beds at Chateau were firm, but comfortable. I did find the underground parking garage to be rather small with cramped parking slots, but I was able to find a spot in the outside lot. The Bed & Breakfast package is a good deal and the breakfast buffet was good. The only complaint, is that the hotel has a sunken lobby. It is level with the street, but the first floor rooms are up about 5 or 6 steps from the lobby, so it is a problem schlepping suitcases up the steps if you have a first floor room. They really need to change those steps to a ramp as did one of the historic hotels we stayed at later in our trip. Overall, though, we were perfectly happy with our stay and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't get a first floor room if you don't want to go up any steps at all.
