The previous entry by mblythin was spot on. I looked at 6 hotels before being directed to this one, right in the heart of town. It is the oldest hotel in town, as in 1929. The lobby was relatively impressive, the staff (particularly Francis), extremely helpful and the price excellent at only $76 per night including all taxes for 3 days Thu, Fri and Sat. The room was extremely clean, bright and well appointed, but was old fashioned and as expected it was small. As was the norm when this place was built, many of the rooms have no ensuite, only a sink in the room. As a guy travelling without the family, the location and price far outweighed the slight inconvenience of separate shower.
The place has free internet wireless and the front desk gave me free tickets to the local swim pool. Free parking was around the back. The restaurant and bars seemed popular. I thought this was a great find in Jasper, as did many young skiers and therefore the place can be a little noisy at night…. a fate no doubt afflicting any reasonably priced place in a ski resort.

A strange mix of styles in this good quality budget hotel but having just come from a hostel in Vancouver I'd have to disagree with the previous reviewer. It's nothing of the sort.

The hallway is rather grand and the rooms small but clean and well equipped with tv, hairdryer, sink etc and nicely furnished. The shared bathroom is small but very clean. It's in an excellent location just one block from the train station. I didn't try out the bar or restaurant but both seemed fine. Staff were very helpful and informative.

Very good value in an overpriced town.

The main hotel in Jasper and seems to survive on the bar. Well refurbed rooms seemed at odds with the rest of the hotel which was tacky. Looked more like a hostel than a hotel. Watch out for +5% Sales tax and +7% resort tax. Allow £100/night for room with your own bath. Avoid Sunday night when there is a disco that wakes the neighbourhood.

Stayed here for night on a holiday long weekend. it was fully booked. Room was shared bathroom and had been renovated but was quite small, adequate enough I suppose. Bathrooms were renovated and clean. Hotel location can't be beaten in town if you want to be close to shops , pubs , train station etc.
Our room was not airconditioned and was warm due to facing west afternnoon sun. Would be very hot during summer, ceiling fan may give some relief. Low season price was Ok, but would be overpriced during summer, as would all the town accomodation.

Stayed there in Summer of 2007 while on a motorcycle ride through the Rockies. Was in a room with central bath, that is to say shared bathroom down the hall. The room was remarkebly adequate, featuring a tv, sink and comfortable bed. No AC but nice ceiling fan.

Given Jasper prices in the summer, this was a nice deal, especially when all I was looking for was a bed for the night.

As their website mentions, there is no elevator, so be prepared for a climb. Room was clean, staff helpful.

The Place to Stay in Jasper
staying in Jasper (wonderful by nature) the place to B can only be the Athabasca hotel, I’ve stayed here throughout my trip to jasper .Affectionately known as the Atha-b the hotel is steeped in history and oozing class this heritage hotel has been the pulse of jasper since the 1920s renovated to a boutique standard the authenticity of the staff and the place provide the perfect backdrop for a stay in this winter paradise.
The reception area and trophy room are decked out with stuffed trophy heads casting you back in time as soon as you walk in. The rooms are exquisite with brass beds and period furniture waking you in the morning seemingly in a different era. O'Sheas award winning restaurant serves a hearty breakfast to start your day and there lunch and dinner menu offer exquisite cuisine from an extensive menu.
Of an evening I would frequent the Athab nite club which is the largest bar/ nightclub in jasper and is regularly packed to the rafters with headline acts, guest and resident DJs, giving you the perfect environment to enjoy a drink or 6 and party until the wee hours.
If your a big sports fan as I am O'sheas lounge with its wall to wall TVs showing sport from around the world daily
there is no better a place a guest of jasper could find themselves surrounding yourself in the warmth an authenticity of this hotel in downtown jasper truly is the must stay place if your visiting

Nice staff, clean rooms and common places, and it had the feel of a small railway hotel (in a grand/quaint/busy sort of way, although I'm no expert) even though we spent the Christmas holidays there! We had great views from our window South, in a large 2 double-bed room. As for location, it couldn't be better. We carted our luggage from the train station the 2 blocks to the hotel. There are dozens of cafes and restaurants within 5 min. walk of the front door, and the same goes for the sports stores (i.e. rentals and ski hill pickup). The food in the hotel was disappointing (seeing as we're vegetarian). No elevator, but the stairs are very wide and accommodating for hauling up your luggage.
