“Cabin No. 36!!”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

We stay 5 nights before Thanksgiving weekend, take advantage of the low season price. The temperature around this time is just perfect! Never feel too warm inside the cabin, and always feel fresh outdoor.
Can't find a better location than Alpine Village, short distance from downtown Jasper, right beside the Athabasca river. The property itself is well maintained.
The interior of the cabin is fabulous, this is the dream log cabin for a couple, don't worry about the wifi because you don't need it. You are in the best natural environment you can have, so why bother!

We had a one room cabin with a stone fireplace. It was cabin number 2 and offered a very nice location. My husband used their axe and split our firewood rather than buying it. We had the most lovely fires during our stay. It was quite chilly so it was perfect to sit in front of a fire. The cabin is in excellent condition even though it is one of the older ones. We had a full kitchen and took advantage of it and prepared our own meals. Our bathroom was newly done and was gorgeous. It had a large new tiled shower and heated tile floors. We found the bed very comfortable. We sat across the road and enjoyed a glass of wine in one of their lawn chairs. The Athabasca River is absolutely beautiful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This resort is on the banks of the river ( well just over the road) which was glorious . The views of the mountains was magical as you walked along the river.
Just a few minutes drive from Jasper.

The fire is set far back in the grate - I guess for safety reasons but it didn't really project much heat.
You do have to buy your own fire wood which I thought was a but much ( it was free else where we stayed in BC). You can chop your own logs for free .

I am afraid the pillows and bed were not very comfortable but in terms of a lovely quiet location in a log cabin it ticked the boxes.

Room Tip: we backed onto the road which meant you were looking out onto wilderness and the road was quiet

We booked this based on the pictures on their web site and reviews. BE WARNED. They are in a great position and some of the cabins looked fabulous. BUT sadly not all. We stayed five nights in a one bedroom cabin and it was shabby. The goods points are the position, it's quiet and the standard of cleanliness is good. The negatives are, our cabin was shabby, cracked sink, all the taps dripped. The bathroom was never warm. The thermostat is placed too close to the heater so shuts off constantly. You need to use the fireplace which is great, but the wood is not free unless you chop it yourself. Which for us was fine but someone not as fit, tough you will have to pay 5 dollars a night to stay warmish, the kitchen is dated with a lack of basic utensils. Having washed my hair I then discovered no hair drier!!! I had to request one from reception and was told no 17 doesn't have a hair drier! I had to request extra blankets as we were cold at night.
The reception staff were not very welcoming and upon check out we were not asked how we found our stay.
The kitchen table and bench seat were so uncomfortable we took pillows off the bed.
Finally, if you need the Internet go somewhere else it rarely works and didn't work at all for three days.
Our stay was a lot of money compared to what we paid elsewhere in the Rockies and sadly we found it overpriced for what we received.
So check out exactly what you are getting. If you are in the larger cabins I suspect it is all much better.

Room Tip: Make sure you go for a larger updated cabin.

What a perfect, relaxing spot! We stayed two nights in a small sleeping cabin and all our expectations were met. The bed was comfortable and the surroundings were lovely. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, and the chairs on the bank of the Athabasca were a wonderful spot to listen to the river and watch for wildlife. The cabins are near the town of Jasper and convenient for driving to the many natural attractions in the area. Our cabin was fine for two people, but one of the large houses with kitchen facilities would be ideal for a family vacation. We certainly recommend this lovely vacation spot to anyone visiting Jasper!

We stayed in the 2009 1 bedroom for several nights and we were stunned by the quality of the room, the cleanliness, the professional staff and warmth of the whole place. You are located beside the river with several walking trails available. This is far superior to the better known Fairmont Hotel. It is so peaceful and quiet at night. Dogs are not allowed, but we understand the reason for this policy. Regarding cost, going during the low season is quite reasonable given the quality of the room. I must add that the new bathroom/shower with heated floor was a real treat as was the king bed. The décor is Rockies rustic. Beckers down the road offered outstanding dinner service with a superior chef working some magic. It's a must-stay (May - mid Oct). Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Newer 2009 do not have a fridge. Older units have complete kitchen. Firewood is available at $5/lg b...

We spent 2 nights in a Deluxe King Room - had a fireplace (which we didn't get to use unfortunately - have to buy the wood) and a couch, good spacious room. It was very quiet and a 5 minute drive into town. You can walk into town - it would take about half an hour.
