“Nice, but average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

The location is fabulous and size of the cabins where great. However we ate at the Pub and it was very disappointing. Awful overpriced bar food with poor service.
Room service breakfast was not much better.
The newly renovated change rooms for the pool where nicely done, however the steam room was out of order.
The walls are very thin. We heard a barking dog most of the evening.
Wood burning fireplace a nice feature.
Wanted to use the kettle, but it had mold on the element.

My husband, baby boy and I got away to Jasper Park Lodge as a mini vacay/anniversary celebration. The staff stood out for us because the instant we got to our room we got a call from the ladies up front welcoming us and checking if our room met our expectations. That in itself was optimal performance in customer service.
I had booked a room with 2 beds and thought it would have been good with our baby but at second thought I figured I would ask if any single king beds were available. Well they went out of their way and checked to see if a room with a king bed was free we were offered an upgrade to a lake view cabin which totally enhanced our trip. Even the valet guys were awesome they brought all our stuff to the new cabin and offered my son a toy from the giant toy chest (which he loved ).
The view from our cabin was spectacular! The only thing I would suggest to Fairmont is that the rooms could use a little more attention when it comes to cleaning but apart from that it was a great stay out beds were comfy, the room was warm and cozy. The first night we had dinner in the main lodge building, the food was good but it wasn't hot. It seemed it was cooked and brought from another building, maybe that's why it wasn't warm. My son did enjoy his spaghetti though. Again the service was great there also.
Day 2 we ate in the town of jasper.
Overall we were impressed with the staff and the surroundings. It's in a gorgeous location that can't be beat.

Stopped overnight on the way back from Edmonton to BC. Enjoyed the property very much. The old pictures and history around the room and main building was great to see and original.

The feeling was great and we loved the fact it was not overcrowded. Rooms were great along with the service.

Food was not as good other Fairmont's we have stayed at.

Loved the different lodge feel to the property and really looking forward to visiting again soon.

It was a pleasant surprise and exceeded what we thought it was going to be. Might just my new favorite Fairmont Property!

After a full day bus ride from Banff via Lake Louise, walking into the Fairmont Jasper we found the lounge and reception area most welcoming. Our room a five minute walk from the lodge was comfortable if a tad in need of renovation. The balcony needed a clean. Dinner outside on the deck overlooking the lake was poor and the area was full of wasps. Yes, I am allergic. Day 2 was a walk around the lake - spotting the magnificent golf course and seeing up close our only bear and being warned by a ranger. Lunch of takeaway sandwiches and beer on our balcony was idyllic. An extremely rude Taxi Driver took us into Jasper for dinner at Papa George's - recommended by the Brewster bus driver. Hint - always ask the driver where he or she eats. Wife ordered Jambalaya - was far too hot. Waitress (a kiwi) took it back and replaced with no problem. Said the cook was a little new. Food and atmosphere great - first try of house white wine - found it excellent and our first reasonably priced wine. Back for coffee on our balcony with an elk family grazing on the lawn below us. Big guy was pretty threatening guarding his harem. Ignoring a few minor irritants, this lodge was our favourite Fairmont location - a completely different experience to the Fairmont Banff Springs. Sitting in a lounge on the lawn beside the lake could have become an all-day occupation. Waiter, just bring me a beer!

The property at the Fairmont Jasper Lodge is stunning. Upon arrival, you pass the tennis courts, golf course & lake. We saw a lot of wildlife, which was great. You stop at the main lodge to get your keys, but then drive to your cabin (we stayed at one facing the water). Parking is difficult, and you do feel like the men on carts could offer to help, but they don't, they sort of get in the way a lot! The streets are winding and parking is limited, so be prepared to walk a lot!
We felt the room was "fine." The bathroom was tiny and dated, but the room had a fridge, so we liked to go into town to grab goodies for breakfast, so we could eat it by the water in the morning. There are nooks and crannies all across the property to explore. We really enjoyed running around the lake, but got lost where it meets the golf course. I do hope they can add some signs to help people out.
We splurged on dinner at the main dining space that faced the lake. We ate outside, which was the only thing that was nice. The food was bland, overpriced, and service lacking. They also missed the fact that it was my husbands birthday, which I told them about before, and that was a pretty lame and disappointing.
We rented mountain bikes and enjoyed the trails, but the bikes were in terrible condition. For a hotel of this caliber, they should have been higher-end bikes, we had to flag down other bikers for tools to tighten our bikes, and replace the chain that fell off.
Billing was also a problem after we left, we gave them a new credit card for the bill, and told them to disregard the one used for the deposit. They didn't do this, which caused issues, especially with foreign transaction fees. Which reminds me, look for a credit card with no foreign fees before going out of the country, this would have saved us so much money!
Overall, this is the best place to stay in Jasper for the property, and although there are a lot of things I mentioned that were negative, I am hoping it is constructive criticism for the management.
I think if you are going to Jasper for the first time and it is within your budget to stay here, do it, My absolutely favorite thing to do in Jasper is the Valley Of the 5 Lakes hike. WOW. I would give this place 4 stars if it were not so darn expensive. The price would have been understandable if the accommodations were as 5 star as we paid for.

Dear Luv2travelNamaste,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us to provide your comments. We are very happy to hear that you were able to enjoy the outdoors during your stay, the Valley of the 5 Lakes is an amazing hike! However, we are disappointed to hear of the issues you encountered, as it’s not the typical service we are known for. Failing to acknowledge your husband’s birthday when the information was provided previously is unacceptable. Please accept our apologies for the impact that this had on your special getaway. Rest assured we will be passing your concerns onto our recreation manager about the condition of our bikes and lack of signage around Lac Beauvert. We truly appreciate your valuable feedback and can assure you that your comments have been taken very seriously and will be beneficial in assisting us in the future. Sincerely, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

We stopped in on a trip from Vancouver to Alberta. The service is great, when we pulled up the bellman was waiting and as this is somewhat of a wilderness setting there was a roaring outdoor fire with marshmallows etc. We are President club members so there is a separate check in desk so no line. Food was excellent in the dining room, did not try the bars. The setting is rustic, the accommodations are cabins spread out over the property so its a short walk or ride. Great recreation activities, outdoor rinks and cross country skiing trails, snowshoeing etc. Beds, linens and pillows are top notch. I recommend any Fairmont hotel.

We did the Fairmont circuit during our visit. Fairmont Banff, Fairmont Lake Louise and Jasper. Jasper bar non was our favorite. We stayed in a cottage along the water. The rooms were definitely in need of an overhaul. However, the activities and the scenery more than made of for the rooms. Canoeing, horseback riding, visits to town and the overall beauty of this destination make it so special. The trek to Jasper is far but well worth it.

Room Tip: request a cottage next to the water. The ones next to the canoe hut are the closest to the lodge.
