One thing I love about the Fairmont JPL is the preserved historical feel. The main lodge is gorgeous and shows wonderful Prairie architecture and decor. The sleeping cabins and lodges have that Old World feel. While the rooms have lovely renovated bathrooms and improved heating systems (from previous stays) they look like the time they were built, which I like. I found our room quiet and spacious for a family of four. The staff go out of their way to help you out. Since the last time they stayed they renovated the pool facilities and the change rooms, though less spacious for changing, have an amazing eucalyptus steam room. What an awesome experience after skiing! I don't like the changes to the menu in the Emerald Lounge and next time we stay there and are looking for a casual dinner we'll head to town instead of trying to make a meal of appetizers. For some reason as well Fitzhugh's To Go charged two very different prices for the same order two mornings in a row. Disappointing.
Why go? For the view, the historical feel and a nice sleep in a Fairmont bed.More
