Stayed at the Ship Ahoy Motel in June during the Windjammer Days activities in Boothbay Harbor. The motel is outdated, but very clean. For less than $100 per night, each room has an ocean front view. The rooms were large and very clean. The pool is a small inground pool, basically located in the parking lot. The guests were mainly over 65 years old. It can be assumed that this is a hidden gem as far as value and location. We did not intend to spend much time in the room, but chose this motel for it's price and proximity to Boothbay Harbor.
I recommend this motel for the budget minded traveler. It is outdated and eccentric, but clean and has terrific views. It is a no frill excellent value motel.

Room Tip: Request the "Far East" Motel builing , deluxe ocean front.

The proprietor of this motel should not be in the hospitality industry. He is a mean man who seems to take pleasure in inconveniencing other people and being mean, mean, mean. It's a great location, but you're much better off staying at Newagen Seaside Inn a bit down the road -- much nicer accommodations and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff.

like the other positive reviewers, I give this peaceful motel high rating because it was everything we wanted and needed and nothing we didn't. It is out of the way ... out of the hustle and bustle that is Boothbay Harbor but close enough to get there quickly. Our room was in the building closest to the water on the bottom floor. When we realized we could have a better view from the 2nd floor, we asked the front desk and they graciously offered what they had available - perfect! While the rooms didn't have all those frills that you have at some hotels, it met our needs and the peaceful tranquility of sitting on the deck, with the early morning sunshine streaming in on you, sipping your coffee and watching the lobster boats haul their traps .... it was just perfect. Bring your hair dryer, a good book and your need for rest & relaxation and you won't be disappointed. Oh and the price is terrific! We will return!

Room Tip: 2nd floor of waterfront for uninterrupted vistas .... but views most likely from all rooms

I gave this very peaceful motel 5 stars because it met all my needs, but very basic,no frills, but how do you put a price on beauty and serenity, and that was what was there, the moon and stars, sunrise over the islands and gorgeous sunsets, sit on your deck and the sound of waves and the salty tang of the ocean,it was there,so quiet,we had rm 47 of the unit Far East, perfect as we had deck on end and deck off our room, we went to again basic breakfast in the building up a little hill and a view that took your breath away, coffee and muffins, fruits, cereals and all a dollar, but with a million dollar view,if you are expecting luxury do not go,but if your soul needs a tune up,make a reservation for next year, the people are very friendly and the price? you will not believe it,enjoy!

Room Tip: you will love 47 or a room on upper deck

For all the times I've been to nearby Boothbay Harbor over the years, I can't believe I missed this beautiful, treasured gem of a museum piece (until now). Comfy, cozy, spotlessly clean and impeccably preserved, the Ship Ahoy is what motels used to be: You can feel the history. The friendly proprietor Jim will fill you in on all the details, and the spectacular view will fill your heart and soul long enough to last until your next visit. If I had hundreds of millions of dollars, I might buy the place, but I'd never want to stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: You pay a little more to overlook the water directly, but the other rooms have a perfect wide-angle view.
