“Would stay again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

The hotel is about an hour and a half south of Jasper, but totally worth every second of the drive (which was stunning). Our room had a queen bed and couch, as well as a second level loft with 2 twin beds. We packed some fruit and sandwiches as we were travelling on a budget, which ended up being a good call as the food at the hotel was on the pricey side. Overall, the hotel was very clean, staff was super friendly, and the views are absolutely to die for.

When we are planning to Columbia Glacier Alaska that time we were very nervous about this hotel, having read some very mixed reviews. We needn't have worried. Many hiking trail around the spectacular views. It is worth every penny out there. The hotel is easy to access. We park in the coach park, so a short walk over a footbridge with our luggage. We found reception without any problems.

Dear Ana J,

Thank you for your recent review of the Glacier View Inn.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and were able to explore some of the beautiful hiking trails we have sounding our Inn.

We added some new signage to help our guests find the reception area and it is great to read that they are working!

Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to host you again soon. The Glacier Skywalk will be opening this coming May and it will provide visitors with an opportunity to see a part of the Jasper National Park that not many people have been able to experience before.

Best Regards,

We decided to stop here so that we could do some hiking on our way from Jasper to Banff, but the weather wasn't great so we didn't get to do the walks we'd planned. However, we didn't regret stopping here because we had a glacier view room and wow, what a view it is! The room itself was very comfortable and well equipped. We were a bit worried about what the restaurant would be like as the reviews weren't particularly complimentary but there was no need at all to be concerned - see my separate review.

Dear travellingscoobies,

Thank you for your recent review of the Glacier View Inn.

We are so pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us, despite the bad weather. Luckily for our future guests, the Parks Canada Discovery Centre that was closed during your stay is scheduled to reopen this May following an extensive renovation. Dear Waldemar W,

Thank you for your recent review of the Glacier View Inn.

As we have been closed since October, I was pleasantly surprised to see your review and so happy you took the time to provide us your feedback.

Our rooms are categorized by two types, Mountain (facing the rear of the building) and Glacier (facing the Columbia Icefields). A room on the top floor facing the Glaciers and the mountains that surround them are the most spectacular and breathtaking.

As you mentioned, the Inn is surrounded by many hiking trails, ranging from easy to expert.

The Parks Canada Discovery Centre was closed during your visit but is scheduled to reopen this May following an extensive renovation.

Thank you for your review and we hope to host you again soon.

Sincerely,

Jessica Hall

Arriving at Calgary during the floods in June, we were unable to access our pre-booked hotel in Banff and eventually managed to find our way to Jasper, only to find that all the hotels were full (because of the flooding). Eventually, after a great deal of worry and searching, we were offered a room at the Glacier View Inn. We were so relieved to find somewhere to sleep, that I think we would have been happy anywhere, but the Glacier View exceeded our expectations in every way.
We were given a room with a magnificent view of the glacier. The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished and the staff were extremely helpful. The following day we were able to take a tour of the glacier direct from the hotel. There was a restaurant(serving lovely dinners) and a cafeteria serving breakfasts so, although the hotel is not close to a town, we wanted for nothing. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a glacier view

Dear valeriejennifer,

Thank you for your terrific review of the Glacier View Inn. We are so pleased that you were able to find comfort and enjoyment at our property during the flooding. A lot of people faced similar situations where they were unable to reach their destinations and find vacant hotels throughout areas in Alberta. We are very appreciative that our location was unaffected by the floods allowing our guests to continue their vacations safely.

Thank you again for your review and we hope to welcome you back in the future,

We were a little nervous about this hotel, having read some very mixed reviews. We needn't have worried.

The hotel was easy to find (in the same building as the Colombia Icefield Discovery Centre). We parks in the coach park, so a short walk over a footbridge with our luggage. We found reception without any problems, where Ali was very friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is fabulous. We had a dual aspect room with 2 large comfortable beds (Room 314). Great value for money - we paid less than £70.

From reading previous reviews, we knew that the food was expensive. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good. We took our own croissants etc for breakfast.

We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Thank you for your recent review of the Glacier View Inn.

I am very pleased that you found the Inn easy to locate. We have recently added signage viewable from the highway to assist our guests.

It is great that Ali made such a positive impression on you. I will pass your comments on to Ali and management.

Obviously, the scenery is the draw. Our room was ordinary but huge, with windows facing two directions. The heating system took some adjusting. We were there at the end of the season, with sporadic but heavy snowfalls, but the heat was cranked up when we arrived and some of the windows were open. We got things stabilized pretty quickly. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant, but the breakfast was good and reasonably priced, with friendly wait staff.

Dear Daniel L,

Thank you for your recent review of the Glacier View Inn.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your spacious room and the friendly wait staff.

The weather in September and October is very sporadic as you mentioned. In the span of a couple minutes the weather can turn from sun and blue skies to a powerful snow storm. The Icefield receives, on average, 33 feet of snowfall a year.

We hope you enjoyed your stay and were able to warm up with the hot chocolate we provide in our guest rooms.

Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back soon.
