Pocahontas Cabins
Reviewed May 11, 2012

Over a Fri-Sun long weekend, my Husband, Dog and I stayed in Panebode cabin # 43. While it was close to the main building, there's was no Wifi and intermittent Rogers network connectivity. The cabin was an end unit with 2 large windows, a small bathroom, 20-double beds, a kitchen table with 2 chairs and a small kitchen area with coffee maker, microwave, sink and fridge.

We were able to eat outside on our private patio and overlook a field which the deer grazed in. We were the furthest cabin from the main office and found it very isolated because of the low internet connectivity.

I was there with a group which I rented the games room and ordered set meals. The dinner was fabulous and private as the dinning room was closed for the season. The following morning's breakfast was better than continental and also in the closed dinning room. The hot tub was already opened for the season and was nice to use late into the afternoon/evening.

For future trips we will definitely be staying in the Cedar Cabin or sharing with friends in the delux cabins as we found the beds less comfortable than our previous stay.

The Staff were wonderfully helpful and seemed very happy to be there. Our dog was welcomed by all staff who met her and was given a couple of cookies and pooper bags for her stay. She was very comfortable in the panebode as she could look out the windows and enjoy outside time.

There are TVs with DVD/VCR players in most rooms, free DVD rentals at the main office. The main building also has lots of wonderful food & gift items for sale.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and stay in a Cedar or Delux Cabin for a newer/better stay.

We stayed in a basic cabin, and were greeted warmly at check in which is always a good start. We were provided with activity ideas, walking trail info etc, nothing was too much of a problem.

The outdoor spa was great (made up for the Miette Hot Springs being closed) as was the games room, table tennis, pool etc.

Breakfast was appreciated and the room we got was great. Serviced daily, a cozy log cabin, we thought was great value for the price. Highly recommended!

My family and I stayed there over the family day long weekend. We stayed in the deluxe cabin and it was wonderful, very clean. The full kitchen was very useful and had everything we needed. The service at the front desk was always wonderful and friendly. It was very clear that they are committed to great customer service. The movie library had a great selection and when it was too chilly to go out in the evening with the little ones we curled up and enjoyed movie nights. The views were beautiful and it was always nice and quiet.
I would highly recommend the deluxe cabin if travelling with babies and young children. It was just wonderful !!
Thank you

We stayed at the Pocahontas Cabins in one of their motel suites on Jan. 29th, 2012. The gentleman working at the front desk was extremely polite and knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were well taken care of. He even prepared a frozen pizza that I had purchased in the kitchen because we didn't have a stove in our suite. The room was very clean and well taken care of. The building was old and not very noise proof but we still quite enjoyed our stay. We would most certainly stay there again.

My girlfriends and I stayed in the Cedar Lodge for a weekend get away. I booked a room with a full kitchen, so we pre-planned and brought all our food for the weekend as there isnt a place to go out and eat unless you wanted to drive into Jasper or to HInton.

Our room was very nice and exactly what we were looking for... a place to relax. We spent most of the weekend watching movies or enjoying the out door hot tub.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a problem getting our furnace to work and they were there within 10 min of me reporting it to them.

I've stayed here 3 times, i like it because it's cheaper than staying in Jasper, i stay in the motel rooms at the back, i did book one of the larger cabins, but i didn't feel it was worth the extra money, so changed my room to the hotel room. I like it there, it is cozy. You can borrow movies from reception to take back and watch in your room, there is a small hot tub outside which is great under the stars especially in winter after a day of skiing. There is a mini games room with table tennis and pool. The restaurant is nice and has good food. In winter it is nice to have the free breakfast, it's just toast, cereal, fruit, tea & coffee, but thats all i ever want from a breakfast!
It is really close to Miette hot springs, and there are some really great hiking trails near by.
THe newly renovated bigger cabins in the middle of the area look fantastic, but way out of my budget for what i would ever want to spend on a room to stay in.
Twice that i've stayed there i've had a group of really loud people in the room next to me and had little sleep which sucked, but no fault of the hotel.
