“Interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014 via mobile

The science/story behind this lake is fascinating and when we went during the summer the views were very pretty. The crackled, dry ground at the shore was cool and we saw an elk from a distance down the shore. When we started driving down the road again a bunch of mountain sheep scaled up the cliff by the lake and "visited" our cars. :) It's worth the stop!

“What's the trick?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

Ok, lake disappears during winter... but... we were there in July, and nothing special to see. Views were nice, but not spectacular.

“didn't get it.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

There;s this whole thing about how the lake disappears in the winter, but you don't actually see that happen. There are a lot more beautiful mountain lakes without the hoard of bus people.

“Intruiging lake which disappears in the autumn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Medicine Lake is quite beautifull and very unusual in that the lake appears to drain away each Autumn, almost like the tide going out in an estuary. Until recently no-one knew why the water disappears until it was discovered that it drains out through sink holes in the bottom, streaming through caves before reappearing again in the Maligne canyon. As a result. its a facinating place to visit whatever time of year and worth a visit.
