We stayed in one of the older cabins that look over the Athabasca river, we had probably one of the best views from our cabin number 30 although we were right next to the entrance. The view was picture postcard beautiful. The cabin was rustic and older style but completely charming, it felt like we were staying in a little dolls house. So cute, everything on a smaller scale including the shower which would better suit people under 5 foot tall! We stayed for two nights and catered for ourselves using the kitchenette facilties which are basic but adequate. We found a great supermarket Robinsons in Jasper. Overall it was something different, the setting and view from the cabin was delightful.

I just spent 3 nights with my husband and two teenage children at Becker's Chalet. It was wonderful. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is in Jasper National Park on the Athabasca River. It is also a very short drive from the hotel to the town of Jasper. We spent our days in the park (hiked Mt. Edith Cavell, Maligne Canyon, Pyramid Lake, etc., went white water rafting) and our evenings enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the hotel.

We had both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. The breakfast was a standard buffet, and the dinner was more elegant. At dinner, we enjoyed, among other things, Elk and goose berries -- two local items -- and they both were delicious. We stayed in Cabin 29 which is a two bedroom with a pullout coach, so it sleeps 6. It did not have a full kitchen, just a refrigerator and a microwave, which was sufficient for us since we planned to eat out most of our meals. The only negative is that although wifi is free, the wifi service is spotty at best, so if you need to be on line a great deal this hotel may not be for you. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to pay a visit to Jasper National Park.

We stayed in Beckers again this summer and liked it even more than our previous stays. Usually we stay in one of the Riverside Cabins which are nice but fairly rustic. This time they weren't available so we paid slightly more ( $200 instead of $180) for what they call their Four plex units which have a lovely large sitting room, well equipped kitchen, fireplace and separate bedroom. We were in an upper unit which has a small balcony although the view is nothing special as these units are not as close to the river as the more rustic log cabins. The bathroom was very clean as was the whole unit. We were there for 2 nights and were lucky to have perfect weather which certainly enhanced our stay.

Room Tip: There are quite a variety of rooms so examine them carefully on the web-site to select one that is a...

The location was very good if you have a car, as it's too far out of town to walk and is by a pretty river. The receptionists were very helpful and professional. The layout of the site and of the chalet we had were very good. We liked the extra room in the loft, which made the whole chalet feel spacious. It was good to be able to self-cater although the kitchen utensils were of a very basic level (1 saucepan, 2 frying pans), especially as the restaurant on site was rather pricey (so we didn't eat there).

Pretty outside, nice views, poor wifi, smelly rooms

We stayed in number 28 in August. The room smelt really bad of campfire. We opened all the windows and left for an hour and it made no difference. The bed was really soft (too soft). There were four of us and it was $205. There was an extra charge because someone wanted to use the pull out couch. The "free wi-fi" didn't work during peak hours. The pizza at the restaurant had pickled artichokes instead of baked (sour). The lazagna was delicious though. Everything else was upwards of $30-40 per entree. Splitting a pizza ($12-15) and salad ($10-12) made for a light dinner for our older companions but get got soaked ordering dessert ($9 ea) views were amazing. Cute cottages.

Beckers Chalets was a nice location for our stay while visiting Jasper National Park. It had all the necessities with no frills. It was a quiet and lovely setting on the Athabasca River. Our stay was very pleasant and we would recommend staying here although we felt it was somewhat overpriced.

Beckers offers a range of accommodations from rustic chalets to newer apartment style rooms with kitchenettes. We got one of the older two bed chalets near the river with a fireplace. The chalet was charming and near the river. There are only 13 cabins that overlook the river, request #30-43. Other cabin son the greenway would also be nice.

I think the cabin would be a great home base for a stay in Jasper National park. We stayed for two nights and it was comfortable. The grounds are lovely with ample chairs overlooking the river. If you are lucky you might time seeing a group of hearty rafters hit the rapids south of the lodge.

The lodge also offers a high end gourmet restaurant which is good with a lot of original recipes and wild game. Expensive but not exceptional.

Reserve as early as possible in the summer as ALL cabins, chalets, ect book up months in advance.

Room Tip: Choose #30-43 to overlook the river.
