The hotel is relatively new and appears to want to be an innovator in accommodation; however, the hotel sadly lacks in housekeeping, service and personality. I have stayed here on a few occasions and the price is very high which I would not mind but for this I want a very clean room and hallway and entrance, etc. My room was not clean, it was showing signs of wear and tear and what I mean by that: the walls are dirty, shower stall is growing mould by the inner ledge, glassware was dirty before I attempted to use it. As well, this hotel attracts industrial - oil and gas personnel (traditionally called rig-pigs) and this is evident in the condition of the hall way rugs which have sustained abuse beyond normal wear and tear, and in the rooms. The condition of the hotel is really unfortunate because it does seem to have potential but it just seems like now it is cashing in on the tremendous vestitures of the oil and gas clientele. And one more thing: do not get a room on the side of the back road because the Oil and Gas workers park their large rigs on this road and they run all night, meaning there is an inconsistent 'humming noise' extremely loud and very annoying. I had to close my window and even at that I had to turn on the fan in the room to drown out this noise.

I stayed at the Podollan for three nights in November on business. Overall I really liked this property - probably one of the best hotels in Grande Prairie.

The decor throughout the hotel is cozy and modern, with thought given to things like to the location of switches in rooms, etc. The fixtures and decor isn't too high-end but it feels like a lot of thought went into the design so everything seems to work. Rooms and bathrooms are a good size, beds are comfortable - duvets with good pillows.

The desk is a nice size for getting some work done and the free Internet connection is very helpful. Overall connection speed is good most of the time; for the few times it's slow there are some other non-secured networks in the area that you can tap into if you're desparate.

The only small thing I noticed was that my room seemed a bit dark in the evening, even with all the lights on. A few more lights in the room - maybe potlights in the ceiling? - would be good.

In the morning there is a complementary continental breakfast available in the restaurant. Great to have this feature when you need to grab a coffee and a bite in a hurry!

The restaurant has a good variety of food for both lunch and dinner - everything from Greek to Indian dishes. They've also got the stand-bys - burgers, nachos, etc. Food quality is good - portions are big though.

Staff overall were friendly and eager to help, although sometimes a bit slow - seemed mainly because of newness.

I enjoyed having a full day spa on site too. It's a good size spa that offers a complete range of services.

Unfortunately the Podollan doesn't have any significant meeting/conference space, so if you're looking for this you'll have to look elsewhere. There also isn't an indoor pool or fitness facility, although Podollan guests can get a pass to use the Gold's Gym near the hotel (walking distance).
