I was there for a small Christmas party. There was 6 of us and we had drinks, appetizers and main courses and some had desserts. The service was good and the food was decent but not worthy of the price. My $40.00 steak was small and under cooked but was still tasty. My wife and a couple other people loved the fish choice. I just found the portions to be small and the menu was very limited and we ordered off the regular dinner menu, not some pared-down party menu. They seem to focus more on the presentation than they do the value for your dollar. Even the appetizers seemed about $5 to $7 more than they should have been (for what you got).
The atmosphere was busy and that's to be expected before Christmas. The room is incredibly cozy and comfortable. Very mixed crowd, dinner party people, couples on a date, look-at-me noisey 20-somethings and scatters of Slick-Ricks pounding drinks before sliding over to the country bar next door. Parking is a nightmare due to it's Whyte Ave location so a cab is definately the way to go.
Like the place but there are better options if you want to pay that price (Ruth Chris) for a big night out and there are cheaper places (Keg, Sawmill) if you want more options and for what I think is a better steak and less pretentious presentations and portions.
