“Always good”

Been around for years, looks like a place for ladies who lunch, and I suppose it might be. It's also got great sandwiches, soup and desserts. Good location the south side with easy parking generally available.

“Highly recommended”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

Our group of ten had lunch there, and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu has enough variety that I don't think any of us had the same item as anyone else. The dinner was delicious, and the coffee just kept on coming. The only negative is that you must have change for parking meters as that seems to be the only kind of parking in the area.

“Upper Crust restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

This is one of our favorite places to eat a well kept secret close to the University. Reservations are highly recommended. Busy most evenings of the week, closed on Sundays. The locals frequent this restaurant on a regular basis. I love their potato salad and I include it no matter whether my meal is hot or cold. All the meals are delicious but my favorite is the pan fried trout. The desserts are unbelievable and you can buy them to take home also the cookies muffins etc. Staff are generally very friendly and helpful. It is however a busy place. Parking is at a premium. Secret is to be there early for a spot directly outside the restaurant.

“Salt in the wound”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

I like this restaurant and have had great meals there for years. Staff are generally knowledgeable and helpfull.

I have breakfast out with friends every few weeks, and dine at the Upper Crust about three times a year. The food is not fancy, but usaully good. This time, I ordered Eggs Florentine. A few others ordered the same and some ordered Eggs Benedict. The Hollaindaise sauce on both dishes was way too salty, and had to be scraped off. Eggs Florentine or Benedict, just does not taste the same without the Hollaindaise Sauce. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she replied by saying, "Oh we have chef problems this morning". We were not offered an alternative meal, and given that they had "chef problems", it was probably not worthwhile to do so. I will say that the other meals were fine.

I am dissappointed with this treatment, and feel we should have been offered something in the way of compensation.
