Read about this 'unique' fine French dining experience, made a reservation for a special night out.
On arrival found an old, dusty historic building, quaint but not at all fine. Thought we'd give it a try anyway, even though at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night we were almost the only people there. Could look in and see one other table with two seniors finishing coffee.
We rang the bell, and waited... and waited... and waited.
We peaked in the old abandoned lounge. We glanced up the stairs.
No one came.
We could not enter the restaurant proper as the door was barred.
After about five minutes we left.

Ignore the bad reviews - this place is a hidden gem!

First of all, this is an old HISTORIC building, so expect old decor and creaky wooden floors - that's part of the charm. The building is over 100 years old! The decor reminded me of old restaurants in Paris and the music softly playing in the background added to the atmosphere. If you come here for a meal, you should not expect to be rushed in and out, like a lot of the chain restaurants these days. Take time to enjoy the charm of this place and the food, of course!

The price is NOT outrageous - it is priced quite fairly comparable to other high end dining establishments in the City. A main course of duck or lamp chops or steak runs in the mid $30 range - very reasonable.

4 of us came here for dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was great. She was helpful, professional, efficient but not intrusive. Everything we tasted was delicious and expertly prepared, with fresh ingredients. My arctic char was so fresh and tasty, the meat melted in my mouth. My daughter's lamp chops were also great, as were the beef and duck. The brie appetizer was amazing - with the candied pecans. Desserts - oh yummy!

I can't wait to come back.

Although it's lost quiet romantic charm of a few years ago. It's still a great place, the food, service and atmosphere.

Friends gave us a gift card for our anniversary. Used it for Sunday Brunch. It was not a Buffet, and Menu was somewhat limited for the price ($23.95), but food was very tasty. They had a separate table with limited fruit and pasteries. Usually, Sunday Brunch may include an OJ, but only offered water and coffee, which was an additional $325 charge. Not sure we would go back at this price.

Very, very nice place. Well-furnished, clean. Excellent service and outstanding food. We've both had their filet and you could cut it with a fork. Maple-glazed salmon was amazing and they do things with chicken that eggs look forward to becoming. Good wine selection. Did we mention the professional waitress who a) smiled a lot. b) knew what she was talking about and c) passed the table frequently to make sure everything was all right? (And let's not underestimate any of those these days, when most servers seem to think they're doing you a personal favour by taking your order.) High-ish but by no means unreasonable prices. Down-side? Well, if we had to hunt for one, we'd say give the Caesar salad a miss - not much character to it. But did we mention the good service?
