I love Julio's on a sunny day when the patio is open! The atmosphere is great and the service has always been good, albeit you will almost definitely be waiting a while if it's a nice day on a weekend in the summer. It's great for a group of friends looking to have some bulldogs and laughs. The decor is fun and the food is decent. Just don't expect authentic Mexican, because you will be sadly disappointed.

A Mexican restaurant in the heart of Old Strathcona, not too far from the university.
Very nicely decorated in the typical Mexican style, including the washrooms.
A happy place, good food, great staff. We love their "Mucho, Macho, Nachos" dish, one serving can feed up to three people.
They offer great parties to celebrate :"Cinco de Mayo", with margaritas & cerveza fría..
In the summer they move some tables outdoors so the patrons can enjoy the good weather.
Great place to celebrate birthdays, group parties and more..

Bowl of smashed taco chips and a nice salsa, chili with shredded steak, bland, dried out (melting the cheese on top?)

Better places

Started with a "sopa de tortilla" which was quite good, I went on with a vegetable chili that was quite insipid. Altogether a mediocre experience. Service was ok.
