“Terrible service and food”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We went to the Chinese smorgasbord while we watched the races. The food was cold. The main dishes had no flavour at all. The soup was curry based and we are not a fan of that spice. For $17.00 it was overpriced as we left most of our food. The salads and warm gingerbread cake were the only things that are worth mentioning. Next time when we go to the races we will order off the menu as the meals that we saw from other patrons looked good...maybe they know something we don't...
Server was slow and inefficient and the races were cancelled after the 3rd due to track conditions so it was an all around lousy day......

“Great food but be aware of the 15% gratitude....”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

We ate at the buffet yesterday and the food was very tasty and hot. There was a good assortment and it was well presented. There were lots of people running but there was no one to seat us and service was OK but could have been better . Be sure to book ahead if you want a table by the window although any table has a good view of the races . The price of the buffet changes from day to day so be aware that it can be $16.95, $19.99 or more per person. Buffet's start at noon. Desserts aren't laid out until the start of the 3rd race. We weren't aware and it is not listed anywhere on the menu but we later read in the horseracing program that there is a 15% gratitude included in the price of the buffet so we actually left a 35% tip (by accident).

“Priced like a 4 star restaurant. Why? It''s a racetrack!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Been here several times over the years with my Canadian friends but it just gets worse every year, especially the last 2 years. The new management seems to think people want to go to a racetrack for expensive dining. We all are race fans and big bettors, but like to sit and enjoy some reasonably priced food while we gamble. What sporting events promote dining instead of the event itself???
The food is average, but the place is understaffed so you wait too long for your meal, drinks or refills. And every single visit we have had to waste a lot of time trying to pay our bill, since the servers tend to become invisible.
But the prices! Gawd awful. Cheapest item is a hamburger at $20.00 including tax and tip. This is probably because they are pushing their buffet which is $30.00 with tax and tip. Both items cost almost twice what they are worth.
It appears they hope to get you in once, pay that price, and hope you won't tell anybody.
Best advice is to go somewhere else (River Cree Casino,eg.) to bet the races and eat in any of those places.
Colours is looking emptier each time we go. Saturday was half full. Bad sign.

“Been about 5 times, not going back”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

I will find another activity to do with family and friends, this place sucks!
People come here so they can watch the horse races while having a meal. The first few times the overall atmosphere was a lot of fun (I am not a gambler). However, the service has never been great. I was there last on Saturday Sept 22 and the service was terrible. The waiter was either hung over or terribly shy or just lazy. We waited for at least 45 minutes for food. Drinks were another long wait, and water/pop was not replenished. The waiter never did add another place setting despite them shorting us compared to the number of people on the reservation. The food is just plain boring and unimpressive. I can't recommend this place for anyone ever. Too bad, it could be a pretty fun experience.

“Salty food abysmal service”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

The food tasted quite good but later I spent the night swilling water. The food was absolutely drenched in salt. The SERVICE?????? WHAT SERVICE? We waited a 1/2 hour after sitting at our table before we had to take the initiative and find someone to serve us. Service was very spotty after that and when we wanted to leave we waited another 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour for our waiter and finally had to go hunting for him just so we could pay our bill and leave. At that time we found out our waiter was serving 15 tables. Who can manage that??? Cheap cheap cheap management. The is a must miss destination. Don't waste your time or money. If you want to play the horses there are other venues.
