We were in Edmonton for two nights and ended up going to Chianti on both nights. The first evening we went for dinner - it was freezing out and we started with Minestrone and hot, complimentary bread rolls. Yum! Perfect for the weather. We both chose veal, although we picked different sides; the kitchen seems prepared to be endlessly flexible to accommodate your preferences for the sides. The portions were large by our standards, but the food was so good I left nothing on my plate. We were impressed with the friendly and efficient service and the spacious heritage building makes a great spot for a family restaurant. The second evening we ended up going again after a somewhat disappointing meal in a supposedly much more up-scale restaurant left us unsatisfied. On this occasion we enjoyed the house's spicy marinated olives and used more of the delicious bread to mop up the olive oil. The next time we're in Edmonton we will definitely go again. Hearty and tasty food, generous portions, gracious service, intriguing ambience - try it!
