I was greeted by bored and unfriendly staff in a dingy lobby so I wasn't expecting much. When I was walking to my room I was disgusted by how filthy and awful the hallway was. Strong smell of stale smoke and also marijuana smoke. But after traveling for 2 days with no sleep or a shower I was too tired to move on. The room was hot and moldy and the shower did not work!!! I immediately called front desk and complained. After 3 attempts to get maintenance I found out he had just left for the day...out of luck. they refused a different room and refused to refund my money. If there is anything worse than the actual hotel it is their staff. Run away from this place. Spend the extra $20 and go somewhere else.

There are better places to stay (almost any other hotel is a better place to sleep), but the bar in this place (Blues on Whyte) is a must if you are into supporting live music and musicians. Bikers, despite the stereotype, actually make places safer because they do not like petty trouble. I am not familiar enough with the crowds to know specifics but the clientele changes with the days of the week. The jam sessions on Saturday attract the talent and those wanting to hear unrehearsed tunes. I believe Friday night attracts the kids from University wanting cheaper drinks and live music. Ever since they stopped smoking in bars in Edmonton, the air is clearer and you can see the character of the place that has built up over the years. I have been coming here for decades and have not been accosted once. I know people who have stayed here and it is okay if you bring your own bedding and don't touch or feed anything in the room.

Room Tip: If you get a room above the bar you do not have to go downstairs to hear the band.

The Hostel International was full, this was unfortunately the closest place available.

Alarm bells started ringing at check-in, but it was getting late and I needed somewhere to crash for the night. The receptionist was gobby and full of her own crap jibes. It certainly wasn't her pleasure to be checking you in and was very unhelpful.

The room was $44 (with a $10 key deposit) for a single bed with a sink and TV. Very dingy, in need of decoration and complete with cigarette burns on the blanket. Overall, pretty dire.

On a plus side, you get free WiFi from the bar attached to the hotel and it is well located.

Wasn't expecting much. Got even less. First stepped into our room and the tv was on, the bed was unmade, dirty towels on the bathroom floor, used cups and half finished cigarettes in the ashtray. It was like someone had just finished banging a prostitute in there. My friend goes down to complain and they send him back up telling him the maid had just been in there. At this point I'm thinking this is a joke so we go back downstairs and ask for a refund. Well we were only up there 15 minutes and they told us that was too long and they could only give us the key deposit back ($10). Eventually we just took it and then as we are leaving the unhelpful, rude and condescending street kid at working the front desks demands we sign some checkout form or else to give back the $10. Needless to say we just kept walking and never looked back. There should be 0 ratings here.

Asked to see a room and was shown one begrudgingly. For $51./nite in jul just wanted a cheap place to rest my head.No a/c or fan, appeared that an effort was made to clean the room however sink+shower were so old they had blue stains from cleaning agents in them.Couldn't wait to leave.

Well the title pretty much says it all. There was no redeeming quality to any aspect of this as a guest accommodation other than its fantastic location. Staff were not friendly, the room service consisted of new towels only , the rooms had no fan, no ventilation and were stifling hot, my room was incredibly loud due to a air conditioning unit 2 feet from my window ( no the air con was not for my room which was even more frustrating). I reserved a room with ensuite and was given a room with a bath tub and was informed that they only had a few rooms with actual showers. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless a last resort

Room Tip: make sure you specify a shower if you want one

For $40 a night for a place to crash thats not bad. Not bad at all.
You really are in the heart of the city, at night ppl can be seen walking up the streets for hours, music is always playing, (which i didnt mind, it helped me fall asleep), the staff were friendly.

If your looking for just a place to crash! Nothing fancy then this is the place for u. If your one of those ppl who is used to 5 star hotels then dont come here.

overall Ive stayed in worse, this place was definatly decent and honestly, if your only paying $40 a night~~($70) if u get ur own bathroom, then i dont think anyone should complain, ur getting wut u paid for, if ur cheap ur gonna get a cheap place but a roof over ur head nonetheless.
