The historic Princess Theatre ROCKS!! Its prime jewel is the second floor balcony. Great movie-going experience!

This is a small, charming cinema that features an array of foreign and independent films that are seldom available in the standard multi-plex theatre. The seats are comfortable, the usual snacks are available, the screen is good, and so is the sound. Because it is a smaller venue, there's a sense of intimacy that the huge theatres lack, and guests often chat about the film when it ends, even among strangers. The films don't play very long as a rule, so if you really want to see something that's playing, it's worth getting out there early in a film's release. Another bonus is that it is on Whyte Avenue, so there is a wide selection of coffee shops, restaurants of various ethnicities, bookstores, and other unique shops that are worth checking out.

Although the new multi-plex theatres command the market - regular visits to the Princess will keep you in touch with a bit of nostalgia & a comfortable movie experience. A trip to Edmonton or Whyte Avenue is not complete without a visit to this gem. This is where you find a lot of good "little films" & entertainment value - prices are very reasonable with the best popcorn in town!

Neat place to see a movie. There's a large balcony and lower level for seating. Front half of the seats aren't updated but there are lots of newer seat to choose from. The baby room is a excellent idea if you have a fussy baby you can still watch the movie and won't disturb others.

The Princess Theatre in the heart of Old Strathcona is a historical building, restored to its former glory for modern-day cinema-goers. The films are not your normal Cineplex movies, but different, sometimes foreign offerings that are almost always excellent. Even the food in the concession is different from other cinemas!
