We stayed here for ten days. Tis is technically a B & B with a very nice French restaurant downstairs. There are eight themed suites upstairs all individually decorated in an eclectic combination of tasteful antiques from various periods ranging from turn of the century to the 1930's and newer.
We stayed in the Van Gogh suite which had two bedrooms, one with a sink , a separate bathroom complete with ball and claw bathtub and shower, a lounge area and small kitchenette with coffee maker, microwave and honour bar. The beds are SO comfortable.
The building is centrally located and with in easy reach or major attractions like the Exhibition grounds, Rexal Pace and downtown. There is free parking across the road and the bus stops outside the hotel.
The building was built in 1912 and is registered as a Historical Site. The building does show it's age with creaking floors and somewhat interesting plumbing, but the charm and friendliness of the family that runs it, more than make up for any short-comings. There is a nice breakfast served each morning complete with fresh baked crescents and make time to eat in the in house restaurant as the food is incredible both in taste and presentation.
Overall the hotel has a very relaxed, friendly and personable feel that makes you feel instantly at home.
We will definitely make this our Edmonton base from now on!
