Ultimately, when I eat out, I want it to be an occasion, but relaxed and fun. I want the environment to be tasteful and a little upscale without being stuffy. I want the service to be efficient and friendly. I want the food to impress my taste buds and make my mouth water just remembering that I ate it and I don't want to break the bank getting it. When all of my wants are fulfilled, I have to give it 5 stars and Soda Jerks not only met my expectations, it exceeded it. I expected unique "burger joint" as so many have dubbed it, but I found it to be so much more. The unique and creative concoctions available from the bar such as "adult milkshakes" and literally hundreds of flavoured vodka and soda combinations make it a fun place to go for drinks with friends. The fried pickles were the best I've had, thinly sliced, juicy pickles enveloped by a thin, light, crispy batter and the signature nachos…..whoever thought of using Doritos instead of nacho chips is a genius! I went a little crazy on the build your own burger and added too many toppings that didn't quite work for me but couldn't resist trying them. One was the chocolate covered bacon….I wish I could get this as dessert….yum! The service was great but I did notice that when it gets busy, it happens like a swarm of bees and the place literally fills up within 15 minutes something any restaurant would struggle to handle. I loved the decor, fancy but a little run down around the edges, diner inspired pictures on the walls but tastefully done in black & white and hung, not screwed to the wall. A gorgeous fireplace in the entrance greets you with a trendy and upscale feel, yet the place is unpretentious and you don't feel like you should have dressed up. I enjoyed my time at Soda Jerks so much that since I was in town on business, I decided to go back for a second night. This time I made my own "adult milkshake" …a "Whipped Russian"…AMAZING! I debated over the massive Cobb Salad I saw another diner enjoying or submitting to my craving for the Nathans hotdog coated in Chili and cheese with fries….guess which one won! Overall, Soda Jerks is definitely on my list of places to return to again and again but the word is getting out and I would suggest reservations.
