Check in was quick. Disappointed no swimming pool. Could hear people talking in next room so clear was as if were in my room. No fan in bathroom to even try to muffle the noise. Thermastat didn't work, room was a little too warm. Left a bag behind accidentally and so far no one has found it ---- Very disappointing!

The front desk was terribly unorganized and the room was a huge let down. I could not BELIEVE the disorganization that came with this hotel. Having emailed the front desk supervisors to confirm they had my groups reservations prepared and the third party credit card form filled out properly so we would could check in smoothly I was quite annoyed that they said they had it, yet when i phoned the next day to change one of the reservations they said they did not have it. I resent the form, they confirmed having it. BUT when my boss arrives to check in, he is handed a blank third party form AGAIN and told he must fill it out for the rest of us arriving. Thats now THREE times we've had to fill out the form.

When I arrive to check in, I'm told i can not because the third party authorization form has not arrived. Are you freaking kidding me? Luckily I brought it with me for fear this would happen, but I found it absolutly absurd that I had to hand them my copy of the form when they had THREE other copies of it somewhere and managed to lose them.

There was no friendly service at the front desk, like you would normally expect from a Ramada, not even a smile at check in or check out.

My room was freezing, and I tried turning the heat up on the old thermostat but nothing changed throughout the hours it was on.

The head board was not attached to the beds properly, not just in my room but in my coworkers as well. So I was graciously greated with the sounds of the head board hitting the wall in the neighbouring room while they were getting busy.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, no matter the price they offer.

Room Tip: Do NOT stay here.

Thank you for this review. We are disappointed to read the communication issues at the front desk upon arrival. We must provide a smooth check in and check out as part of a great guest experience at the hotel. No excuses! I would like you to know that I read your review to an associate gathering yesterday and all agreed that this was not acceptable. We are making the necessary improvements to all areas and we have measurements in place that are telling us we are improving. The guest experience is of utmost importance to us and we will be better in theses areas. I guarantee it!
Thank you again for taking the time to tell us where we need to improve,

When you walk in to the hotel you are treated to a beautiful lobby (mind you the rock formation is a bit odd) and what looks to be a well maintained hotel. Then you get on the elevator...

When the doors opened up to our floor it was like we walked into a grungy motel. The rooms were about the same. Blankets were kind of like paper, there was black ash wiped on mine and it was pretty clear no investment had been made in their upkeep for quite some time.

Worst of all, when I walked down to the lobby to check out the hours of the car rental spot, I got cursed and harassed by a few drunk adults that wanted to know where the vending machines were and why I was walking by them if I didn't know. It was really offputting and had nothing to do with the hotel per se, except that the hotel employees pretended like nothing was happening.

I would not stay here again, however, I don't think this is representative of Ramada's quality.

Room Tip: Make sure to specify non-smoking. The smoking floors smell terrible.

WelI, I was going to write a scathing review of this hotel until I got here and read what others have said. No use repeating the trash talk after I realized that people already know what a disappointment it is to find a substandard hotel hiding behind the Ramada name.
Unfortunately, because it was a Ramada I didn't Google it and check the Reviews, big mistake. I was at the Casino and asked where there was a nice place to stay and was given a preprinted list of the closest hotels and unfortunately went with this one.
Problems included but not limited to : a hamburger being $14.00, the carpet and dresser looked like they had been used in a porn movie (stains), sitting on the toilet was like being at the center of a teeter totter, had to call for blankets (not provided) because the room was cold (-20 outside) and the heat didn't work properly. When you call for blankets and a cart shows up with warm blankets, you know that your only one of many that are complaining.

On check out I asked the Clerk what I did wrong when I checked in to end up in a substandard room when they must have100s and surely I had a 50-50 chance of a nice normal warm and clean room? He explained to me that we were in the renovated rooms, I assured him we were not and invited him to check it himself, after we left. His suggestion was, next time, to check the room first before accepting it then do the paper work. I have done that before with questionable motels/hotels but not with a Ramada. But if they (Ramada) are lowering their standards when they let a hotel use their name, I guess I'll have to start.

We did not have an enjoyable stay and we won't be staying again.
I may go back next year just for fun and check the same room and see if anything has changed but if it's been like that for 50 years (the heat, toilet, rug etc) I doubt anything will be different. I'll still have to wear my socks so my feet don't touch the rug and we won't be able to take a shower because it's too cold in the room.
You've been warned, so the rest is up to you and if you stay here, you get what you deserve, not necessarily what you paid for.

Room Tip: Eat BEFORE you get to the hotel, menu is very limited and expensive. CHECK room and everything in i...

I was disgusted with this hotel and feel ripped off on my mother-in-law's behalf (She paid for the room). After a tragic accident happened to my husband, all we wanted was a clean place to stay away from home.

EVERYTHING WAS STAINED.
- Sheets were stained, stiff and noisy.
- Carpets were stained
- Shower Curtain was stained
- Tub was stained
- Toilet was worn out looking and frankly looked unsanitary
- Sink had "H" and "C" etched into top to distinguish temperatures. (Really??)
- Elevator was freezing cold (Honestly it was like walking into a walk-in restaurant cooler)
- Elevator made nervewracking noises when moving
- Smelled musty/dirty in the room
- Bottom of bathroom door was all chipped up (Wood was showing)
- Light switches were black with dirt
- Paint was chipped in hallway
- Paint was sloshed on doors when maintenance performed "touch-ups" on the paint chip

I'm just overall upset and disappointed with this hotel. They seem to have spent all the money on the appearance of the lobby and restaurant. I wouldn't mind the outdated looks of the room if it wasn't so dirty.

Room Tip: Don't bother.

Thank you taking the time to post this review. I want to advise you that the cleanliness and maintenance of the property is a major focus at the hotel and it seems in this case it was not up to standard. We are working hard to ensure that we are meeting and exceeding customer satisfaction and we are constantly making decisions to improve the overall experience for our guests. I would love to speak with you directly if you would kindly contact me at the hotel.

This conference hotel is about 50 years old. It was built next to what was then a busy airport located within the city close to downtown. Because of its location it attracted lots of guest from northern Alberta and the NWT. That legacy seems to be maintained even though scheduled flights were eliminated long ago.
The hotel has a main tower of 15 stories and two satellite towers of 6 or 7 stories. It also has an abundance of conference rooms of various sizes. The lobby area was grand it its day with very large sky lights and an enormous rock and water feature that surrounds the lounge/bar. I think it is still pretty impressive. There is a shuttle to the now major airport which is probably 45 minutes away and there is a display of flight schedules in the lobby. The rooms and public areas have been upgraded and generally look good but you can’t hide the fact that it is an old building. I find the rooms clean, spacious and comfortable. It is quiet and there are decent views from the higher floors.
I have stayed in this hotel a few times a year for the last several years. I find it is convenient when I am travelling by car because there is no charge for parking and because it is located close enough to the city centre to be convenient. It is located in a light industrial area. The restaurant is decent but a bit pricey for the quality. Hotel staff are mostly friendly. There is a large shopping center (Kingsway Mall) about 5 minutes away.
Having said all that I have had a few complaints from time to time. On my most recent visit I talked to the front desk twice about shards of glass from a broken beer bottle in the hall way leading to my room. I called before I went to bed when nothing had been done by the next morning I spoke to the front desk folks again. Still no action. Similarly the towel hanger on the bathroom door needed to be repaired but wasn't. I found the smell of the deodorizer near the elevator offensive. I don't know what they were trying to cover up but the deodorizer smell was REALLY BAD. All of the above are problems that a competent manager should have under control.

Nevertheless value, what I pay for what I get, is always a consideration so I will see what their price is next time I come to Edmonton. This time it was about 60% of what I would have paid for a room of similar quality in many other hotels in the area. Free internet is always important to me as well. Perhaps next time I will stay in their sister hotel on the south side of the city which is probably a little nicer.

Room Tip: Higher rooms on the south side have a nice view over the downtown and are quiet.

Thank you for this review. We are happy that you enjoyed the look of the lobby and surrounding areas, we also think they look impressive. The customer service we provide is very important to us and to not respond to a call as you pointed out is not acceptable and will be discussed at a general meeting with all associates. We read and review all comments with our group to find ways to improve the overall experience for our clients, and we are seeing the service and friendliness improving on a daily basis. Thank you for choosing us and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Booked using the expedia unpublished rate service, where you get a decent price but don't find out the name of the hotel until after the booking is confirmed and your cc has been charged. Checked out the recent TA reviews after I booked and immediately regretted my decision to try to save a few bucks. Fortunately, our room was just fine. We must have had a renovated room because it was clean and modern. We only had a couple complaints. First, for covers the bed only had a regular bedsheet, then a thin microfleece blanket, then another regular bedsheet. What happened to the duvet or comforter? Second, they have smoking rooms in this hotel, including some rooms on our floor, and we could smell smoke in our room which had wafted in from the other rooms/hallway.
