“It's not luxurious but it is worth the price you pay.”

Admittedly, I was expecting this hotel to be worse than it turned out to be. The outside of the hotel doesn't inspire much confidence and a facelift is absolutely in order. The parking is accessible from 3 streets though and there is ample parking so that is a bonus. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and our room attendant (Amber) was also friendly and very accommodating. We were travelling with a dog so I was expecting to have the dirtiest room (I've heard horror stories about pet rooms). Instead, the room was surprisingly pleasant. Not exactly what I'd call spacious but it suited our needs. The bathroom was clean (very important to me), the water pressure in the shower was good and there was plenty of hot water. The beds were comfortable but they were double beds so tall people might have some issues(!). This property is very well situated in the west end; less than a 5 minute drive to the West Edmonton Mall and just a few blocks to restaurants and lots of other shopping. The onsite Smitty's restaurant is probably one of the better Smitty's that I have been to. The food was good and the server was funny and attentive. The downsides: The water park in the hotel. The pool isn't big or deep and the slide was closed when my daughter went. We didn't try the hot tub. There is a small courtyard between the two wings of the hotel. Unfortunately, irresponsible pet owners have not picked up after their pooches even though there is a "clean up after your pet" clause that has to be signed at check-in when you are staying with a pet AND the front desk offers poop bags for free. Now that the snow has melted, there are poo bombs everywhere and the staff really need to be on top of cleaning that up. The door to the back parking lot doesn't close securely unless it is slammed - and of course no one ever seems to bother to close it behind them so there is a security issue there that needs to be addressed. In all, this is a decent budget hotel. If you are coming to Edmonton with the intention of NOT spending a lot of time at the hotel, then I recommend it. I wouldn't honeymoon there though!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are quiet as no noise from street traffic.

First off, I will give the positives for the hotel. The price is really cheap. The location, if you are going to the West Edmonton Mall is great, and as far as I could tell by looking, there were no bedbugs to be found.

Now for the negatives. The room was insanely small. Had a room with 2 beds in it, they were double beds, not queen. They were touching the walls on both sides of the room and there was less then 1 meter of "Living" space between the beds. There was not much more then a narrow corridor between the front of the beds and the TV/Desk. Not a good place to be with kids that want to do more then lay on a bed when in the hotel room. The room itself was disgustingly dirty. Found a set of keys when checking for bugs (So not sure how well the cleaners check the room when they clean the place. The window screen was hanging from a single screw and dangling, so I wasn't wanting to open the window much to get the musty smell out. The elevator made the weirdest noises and jumped alot. My kids wouldn't even go on it after the first ride, they took the stairs.

As for the pool area. Its not bad, but the pictures are deceiving. In the picture it looks like the hot tub is huge (Being almost as wide as the pool). In reality, the hot tub is a normal size (Maybe an 8 seater) and the pool is really small. The kids did enjoy the Waterslide though. The Hot tub itself, the kids could not sit in for more the 30 seconds. I was able to last about 4-5 minutes, but it was set WAY to hot.

Overall, very disappointed, as Travelodge usually has decent hotels from the ones I have stayed in. Might try another Travelodge in Edmonton, but pretty sure I won't return to this one again.

Will never stay here ever again!! Room was disgusting there was something stained on the roof, that they washed off after the second day, and only because we complained. Bed was uncomfortable! Keys had to be rekeyed more than once, something stained on the carpet toilet didn't shut off had to shake the handle to get it to stop running. Hallways were very noisy people hollering and slamming doors all hours of the night! Cots were taken out of rooms and just left sitting in the hallway for over a day. Great big burn on the carpet. Restaurant staff was rude, as well as most of the front desk staff!! Elavator was so scary that I only rode in it once and used the stairs everytime after that! Kids liked the waterslide but not the pool. Pool is very small and hot tub is lukewarm, hardly ever towels in the pool for you to dry off. Water pressure sucks! Was told right up until I arrived that I had two rooms with an adjoining door then when we got there that is not what we had. Has to be the worst hotel in all of Edmonton!!

Room Tip: Tip to choose a good room: go to a different hotel!!!!!

I hated this hotel never gonna come back, it wasn't clean at all, the corners had dirt in them, the beds were disgusting I found hair under the pillows. The water park sucked, the pool was dirty, and the hot tub was too hot and dirty.

I booked into this hotel because we needed to stay on the west end of Edmonton and I wanted the kids to have a waterslide. It had a waterslide, and a good one at that. But the pool and waterslide was the only upside to this hotel. Rooms are incredibly small and outdated. Our room smelled of smoke even though it was a non smoking room. If you do chance this hotel, be sure to ask for a room NOT by the elevators as they are old elevators that creak and bang throughout the night; they kept us awake. There are certainly much nicer hotels in the area for the same price. The waterslide is NOT worth it.

I spent two nights at the hotel and was surprised at how poorly kept it was. I was under the impression that Travelodge was a descent 3 star hotel, but this location was barely a two star accommodation. The place wasn't well maintained, and carpets in the hallway were stained. The room had two comfortable queen sized beds, but everything in the room (except for the bathroom) looked quite old. Walls needed a fresh coat of paint and the tv was one of the older CRT tvs. The room was small, but the hotel offered free internet, which was nice.

If you need to stay somewhere in West Edmonton, this would be your average motel to stay at.

Pros - Swimming pool and water slide, plenty of parking, Free WiFi, helpful staff, as soon as you get to your room they call to see if all is well, fridge and microwave in room. Smittys restaurant located right in the premise. Very easy to find and good location.

Cons- This motel is dated. They have tried to make it look good but its still worn. Only one elevator. The double beds are small and shorter than most doubles i have seen. The shower pressure is weak. The wall are thinner than most.

Room Tip: Rooms in the west tower are a tad quieter.
