“Nice hotel”
Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights. It has a very nice lobby. The rooms are nice but appear dated. The bed was very comfortable. The shower didn't get all that hot but that was okay. My biggest area of displeasure was the speed of Internet and how slow it was. I called to the front desk and they said the whole hotel uses the Internet but I could upgrade to premium Internet. So, why is the slow Internet the free standard? I declined the upgrade.

I don't believe I will stay here again for this reason. I don't like paying a premium fee for a workable function.

This was probably a nice hotel 40 yrs ago - but today it's just a run down Motel 6 inside the rooms. The carpets are filthy and old school tv which of course didn't work properly etc.

But the bed blanket was probably 45 yrs old - ratty with holes and 'pilled' etc. I wouldn't have let it touch my body but it was FREEZING in the room because they won't let you adjust the thermostat.

Nice resturaunt/lobby downstairs.

One of those hotels that's great on the outside but SHODDY ROOMS on the inside.

Room Tip: If this hotel is $100 or less - take it. If not, take a pass!

The Sutton Place is undergoing a restaurant renovation but overall, it feels like it needs a freshening up. The thermostat in the room didn't work though luckily you could open a small window when the heating was too oppressive. Room service food was mediocre and they brought the wrong meal (hidden under the silver lid so I didn't discover it until the waiter had left and it then took another 20 minutes to deliver). On the plus side, a Globe & Mail newspaper is on your doorstep in the morning, the room is spacious and the bathroom includes a bathtub. And it's located on an indoor mall which can be convenient.

Hotel rooms and public areas in need of renovation. All quite tired and old fashioned. Restaurant was closed for remodelling, so temporary facility provided. Limited menu and dreadful wine list. Not at all impressed. Certainly nowhere near as good as Sutton Place in Vancouver, BC.

Veteren's Day long weekend in this hotel was absolute crap. Checked in on Friday and had decided to test out room service. Honey garlic wings which were absolutely tasteless unless you managed to find a smidgen of honey on the plate. It did however come at a reasonable amount of time. The caramel pecan cheese cake went over well and appeased me for the moment. After all the travel sleep was in order. So why at 2306 hours was someone knocking insistently at our door? We didn't answer; I've seen enough horror movies to know better. By 2317 hours the party started. Day two, steak and eggs breakfast lead to food poisoning. I'm talking about the shakes, teeth chattering, muscle aching, vomiting food poisoning lasting all day. And to top it all off the food trays were in the hallway from 1030 hours to 1900 after two phone calls to have the four trays and a trolley removed. And did I say they were all in the hallway prior to house keeping making up the beds in the a.m.? Side note; you are required to pay for parking. Park across the street at the unheated garage to save some change for all the pepto and gravel you may need to purchase. Nasty place. I will never, not even for free, return to this hell hole of a hotel.

Room Tip: 1105 had a good view.

Stayed here for our medical appointment at Royal Alexandra Hospital, which as only 5 minutes away. The rooms are clean but needs updating for the carpet is already old. Having access to the City Centre Mall was good becasue we didn't have to deal with the cold and snow whenever we wanted to shop. Service was OK as well.

This will be our 3rd visit to this hotel, it might need a few touch ups in some of the rooms. But the service is always good and it's in a great location. We got in early and our room was ready, if you request anything that might be missing they are very prompt a.k.a we didn't have a blanket. The hotel is very clean and the staff is always friendly.
