“Great location but dated”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

I stayed at the Delta Edmonton Center suite hotel expecting Delta value but I was very disappointed. The hotel itself is well located downtown and is physically attached to a shopping centre. It is possible to dine and shop without going outside which is convenient. Arriving in the parkade of the shopping centre there is a way of accessing the hotel although it's convoluted. The hotel old and has apparently never been renovated, I often stay in Deltas and they normally keep up with the trends of the industry.

My room was nice and big but really old, the carpet was filthy and there was a smell in the room suggesting bad ventilation. Since the room window is actually looking on to the mall, there is no way to crack open a window.

The wi-fi was inexistent and whenever there was a faint signal, my laptop would still not connect.

The personnel however were really nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Test the wi-fi before accepting your room

I am very sorry for the experience you had here at our hotel. It is always disappointing to hear that we did not meet the level of service that our guests should expect. I have shared your feedback with the team here for their own personal review and internal follow up.

Great location & very centrally located in Edmonton for business or pleasure. But bear in mind the hotel is located inside the Mall , hence in some rooms, you cant even open your curtains, hence be prepared for no sunlight at all.
The Plus - nice comfortable bed, overall clean, location, big bathroom and layout OK.
The other side of Plus - dark room, and lighting over the bed is really bad, the old big TV with very bad converter, super hot water- be careful, dont use the hotel parking, self park your vechicle is super cheaper especially on weekends - they charge $23 and you can park in the same lot yourself for $7, desk for your laptop is rather uncomfortable.
The Health club is another drama all together - has a hot tub & steam sauna - both coed. Does the steam come up ? I dont think so despite assurance by some worker and where are you to store your clothes while you are in the steam sauna ? no lockers - I was fortunate my room was down the hall. Would I stay there again ? you bet - only a decent rate but would not go out of my way. Be care of the City centre mall - lots of homeless people and some are agressive.

Room Tip: Ask if there is any with direct view - no of the mall.

Here is some feedback on the Delta Edmonton Centre. I was there to give a 5-day course and it was an excellent venue (from an instructor’s perspective) for the course. The hotel staff were all exceedingly pleasant and eager to help. I was visited every day by both banquet and AV staff to ensure that everything was OK. The training room itself was quite good (the students commented that the chairs were actually quite comfortable and well padded, whereas often students complain, after the first 2 or 3 days of sitting in hotel chairs, about sore backs, etc.). My room was also good, a bit old and tired but very clean.

The location was very good (in a mall) so there was a lot to do and see in the evenings and many restaurant choices in the immediate area. BTW, the hotel restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.

On the Tuesday afternoon, they did not deliver an afternoon snack (fruit tray) with the refreshed coffee, tea, etc. I called down. They fell over themselves apologizing. They offered to bring it right up, but the class decided to not bother. The banquet staff assured me that we would NOT be charged for it (we weren’t). When I went to the front desk following the class to fax in the daily attendance sheet, the front desk staff also apologised for the oversight. Next morning, the Manager of Banquet Services (title?) personally showed up in the morning to once again apologize. And he brought the normal morning goodies (pastries, muffins, etc.) PLUS a fruit tray (no charge for the fruit tray). Nice touch.

The hotel has free WiFi (of course) and a fully functional business centre. The exercise facilities are basic but certainly adequate. Bottom line, I would recommend returning to the Delta Edmonton Centre again for any future course. It is a good facility, well located with great staff.

It's a really quiet hotel as most of the rooms are interior rooms facing the mall. I like that about the hotel since I found the Edmonton Whyte Ave hotels are too noisy.

The real complaint I have about it is the washrooms. They seriously need updating. I've stayed at this location multiple times and every room during my stay, the bath tub is just disgusting. Dark stains, scums, or the tub is peeling. Why would anyone want to take a bath in it, and especially what's the purpose of a jetted tub when you can't use it. Washrooms don't have enough lighting either.

Aside from that, minor details like TVs. Who still uses CRT TVs.

I have stayed at many Delta's in the past, however this site really let me down. Outside of the general facade and the rooms themselves, there seems to be a BIG issue with the plumbing in this facility.
The rooms and general areas are all fabulous, clean and comfortable.
In my two days spent at this site I never had a warm shower, let alone hot. Water ran cold regardless of the fact that I complained loud and clear to the hotel staff.
Systems must be old and lack control.
Kudos to the manager for giving me the room at half price for the two days.

This hotel in the middle of downtown Edmonton is almost impossible to find from the road without asking someone where it is. The room was fine but way overpriced. The buffet breakfast was very good, and as it included juice and coffee, not too badly priced.

Room Tip: Google the location or call to see how to "get in." Reconfirm your reservation - they canc...

Disappointed by this hotel. I am on the road a lot across North America. Have stayed in Edmonton many times, but usually at the Fairmont or Westin. This trip I was booked at Delta. When traveling for work and staying at a brand like Delta, you expect to be able to return to a comfortable room at the end of the day. First, the rooms offered to me had interior views of the attached mall. No outdoor views. There was a heavy perfume smell as soon as you entered the suite. It was explained that it was the cleaning products used. The first part of the suite had no windows at all. The bedroom overlooked the interior of the shopping centre. When I pulled the duvet off the bed, it was obvious that the sheet had been ripped and then sewn together. The repair job had left a bumpy seam right in the middle of the bottom sheet. Aside from looking horrible, it also looked uncomfortable. I asked for another room and was given another room overlooking the mall. This one didn't have the smell, but was really worn and tired. Old tube television, really slow wifi, the carpet was dirty and not having a window outside did not help the situation. I felt the staff really tried their best, but given the product they were dealing with, there is not much they can do.
