I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Front desk staff were accomodating when I asked for a room without 2 beds and without a jacuzzi! The room was huge and well maintained given the age of the hotel. Large windows (some of which actually open); housekeeping was good; linens are very crisp, white and down filled duvets and pillows are nice.

Stayed in a Roman Suite at the Fantasyland Hotel. What a crazy place - eccentric and amusing, exhausting and fun. Room was very large, enormous 4-man jaccuzi which took ages to fill from a roman woman's knee, bust of ceasar to hang the towels on, gigantic tv, minibar, aircon, 6 foot circular bed, adequate bathroom, good storage. If you are a little self conscious you might be put off by the mirrored walls and ceiling!! Very clean, check-in easy, great access to the West Edmonton Mall, friendly staff. All in all, a fun time.

So me & my boyfriend stayed at the Polynesian room for a night. It was a bit pricey (close to $400.00) but we decided to stay anyway.
The room was like any average sized hotel room. The bathroom was clean, the bed was comfy, the hot tub was HUGE! So far no complaints.
We drank some wine ordered some pizza and eventually fell asleep. The next morning we checked out at 1 p.m. from sleeping in.
We made our way down to the check out desk. We turned in our keys and asked for our deposit of $250.00 that I had put down since we didn't have a credit card. The lady said that they would have to get a room check down from housekeeping before the deposit could be given back.

So we waited about ten minuted and one of the "suits" came down and went to speak to my boyfriend. The "suit" came down from our room with 1 bottle of corona and 1 bottle of Rev full of cigarette butts and claimed they were in our room!!! We both looked at him confused and told him those were NOT our bottles. All we drank the night prior was wine which we left in the room in the corner. He said that we were lying and that we would NOT get our deposit back! My boyfriend was outraged and started yelling at the man. He then told us that if we didn't leave he would call security on us and have us escorted. The "suit" would not listen to anything we had to say. They clearly had the wrong garbage and were blaming it on us! He then gave my boyfriend a card of the manager and told us to speak with him. We ended calling security and the police and neither of them could do anything to help us get our money back. Even the police officer said & I quote" If I was gonna spend $400 on a room I would think I had the right to do whatever I wanted in it."

So now I am out $250.00 and have to fight to get it back. Talk about a wonderful weekend. The staff made us out to look like liars in front of a crowd of other guests. And not to mention ruined the rest of our weekend. I will be making a visit after the Thanks giving weekend to talk to the mananger and hopefully he can realize that they made a BIG mistake! I I will let you know what happened.
But if they think I will EVER reccommend the Fantansy Land Hotel to any of my friends/family/co-workers etc... think again. I already told EVERYONE I know to never stay there. Perhaps the hotel doesn't realize that their rooms are way overpriced. They need all the business they can get!

My friend and I took our daughters to Edmonton for a girls' trip at the end of August. We booked a standard room with two beds to fit the five of us - but were pleasantly surprised to be ugraded to adjoining polynesian-themed rooms! Our girls had a total blast pretending to be mermaids in the oversized jacuzzi tubs - that came complete with waterfalls. It was so much fun to stay there and so convenient for shopping. No need to even leave mall - all the shopping and eating you could ever desire located right there.

We had 2 nights in Edmonton and had booked a stay at the FantasyLand hotel.

First off, the car park entrance to this place was a pain in the backside to find, we drove around WEM 3 times before we located the right entrance!
When we finally arrived we joined 2 other cars in the valet parking queue. We waited...and waited. About 15 minutes later I got out and asked the lady in front what was going on, she said no valet had come out to her yet.
I went into the hotel to check in and saw the valet and 2 other bellboy types standing laughing and joking. I told them there was now a queue of 5 cars waiting and that it had now been 25 minutes since I pulled up! They took their time, and about 10 minutes later we were in,
They put our bags on the trolly for us and off we all went.

We had booked a standard room but we were upgraded to a Polynesian Suite on check in, so we were delighted with ourselves! We went up the the room and the bags were delivered immediately.

When we saw the room we laughed and laughed. I've never seen anything like it, it was like Las Vegas on steroids!
The room was enormous, it had a wall sized volcano (complete with red 'lava' light), the bed was a Polynesian boat with a mirrored ceiling above it (oooooh maitron!) and there was a jacuzzi bath big enough for 6 people made out of fake rock that had its own waterfall.
We would NEVER have booked something like this for ourselves as it is completely the opposite of our taste, but we were really happy we got the upgrade because it was just hilarious and brilliant fun. we spent hours in the jacuzzi watching the Olympics on the TV at night!
The rooms are well soundproofed, you couldn't hear a thing from the neighbours.

The safe in our room had been locked open and we could not lock it. We rang reception about it and 10 minutes later someone was there to look at it. He couldn't fix it and said he would get a replacement, he was very apologetic and professional. We went out and when we came back it had been replaced. Very efficient and polite service.

We got room service and it was fast and tasty and massive portions! The room service waiter was really nice, friendly and chatted to us for a while about our travels.

The location of the hotel is of course perfect for WEM, which was good fun too, and it was nice to go back to the room for a shower in comfort after the waterpark etc.

On our floor there was a sign that said they were doing refurbishment work, 'sorry for the inconvenience'. We heard and saw nothing of this except a workmans trolly down the corridor and we certainly we not inconvenienced by it.

Checkout was done from the room through the TV, so no issues there. We again had issues with the Valet team, who quite frankly are useless. We rang to request the car and went down and it was there, but no sign of anyone with our keys. I asked the guy inside at the Valet desk, he said he didn't have them 'maybe XXX has them'. right.....
Waited another 10 minutes for the other Valet to show up, he says he doesn't have the keys either. He goes off, then come back and says 'oh I did have them after all'. nightmare. Either these guys are overworked or just plain lazy. I think the latter!

Apart from the Valet the staff were great and we had lots of fun staying here.
