I have been here almost every single time I have been to Edmonton and yeah sure they have changed things each time but it just feels the same every single time. You got your entertainment like movie theatres, water parks and what have you but you got those in every city. Just is a glorified experience to help you spend more $$$$. Disclaimer I haven't visited Edmonton in a few years.

The waterpark at the mall is pricey ($100/family of 4) but for overall experience it was worth it. Our kids had never seen anything of that magnitude and were simply amazed.
Food was expensive ($5/slice of pizza) and the staff serving us was the most unfriendly we encountered on our vacation.
You will want to bring all of your belongings (clothes etc) in the park with you in a duffle bag or be prepared to pay a hefty non-refundable sum of $7/locker.
Go early to avoid large lines and if you are coming with smaller children (ours were 7 & 5 ) be prepared for them to either Not be able to ride the majority of the slides or have to go down them alone.
We had fun but due to the costs, and amout our our kids couldn't go on, we will not be making this a regular stop.
Galaxy Land
Again very pricey ($100/family of 4 for unlimited rides or about $1.80/ticket) It cost us almost $20 for one ride. For 2 of us.
Lots of great rides for kids of all ages, so reccomended to get the unlimited pass.
The amount of coin games that were out of order were staggering. It seemed as though every game they wanted to play was not working.
Locker rentals were a hefty non-refundable $7
We will come again as our kids (and us) had a great time.

We went as a family trip to the water park and it was sooo fun, great waterslides, great pool, and a great place to sit back and relax beside the pool. we did fin the seating was a bit crowded(The pool provides chairs for everyone to sit in but almost all of them were taken ) But the waterslides were fun, there was even a slow yellow one that was really relaxing for mum + dad, you could also bungee jump above the pool for a fee. We brought our own picnic inside because we weren't sure how the food would be, other than that it was great fun and we would visit again.

West Edmonton Mall pretty much has it all. There is shopping galore as well as entertainment. Entertainment includes movie theaters, water slides with a large wave pool that is designed to look like the beach, a full size ice rink, a marine park with a Santa Maria replica, and much more. Shopping includes book stores, pet shops, restaurants, clothing, novelty items, specialty items, big box stores like Sears, The Bay, and more.
There is Bourbon Street that is a long corridor of restaurants and pubs on both sides to cater to your needs whether that's a family meal or to watch a sports game and have a beer. There is TNT, a large Asian grocery store. You can also stay at Fantasyland hotel to have access immediate access everyday of your stay. The mall really has it all. It is large, so you may be enthralled just to wander about aimlessly.
On the negative side it can be crowded. There are a lot of young people and kids just hanging out in the mall. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of older people too, and mall security is pretty good. Parking can be tricky at times. Usually there are always areas to park, but finding your way back to the entrance you came in may be a challenge. It is so easy to forget. Be sure to write it down.
If you decide to visit, relax, let it happen and enjoy!
