Interesting food, cozy restaurant, excellent service. I honestly think this is one of the best restaurants in the city!

Quite simply, the Mill Creek location was a far better experience. I found the items on the Highlands menu odd. Perogies and sausage? Hmmmm. And the service was below average. I will likely not go back.

I consider it a bonus to have a high-quality restaurant close to home - short drive in the winter, pleasant walk in warmer weather should you choose to do so. Culina Highlands is not easy to classify - I suppose one might describe it as "Ukrainian Fusion" given that they serve a mean bowl of borscht and an ample serving of pyrogies and kubasa. But there's way more than that at Culina Highlands.

The restaurant is located in the Highlands area in Edmonton, Alberta. It's a small, pleasant room with a lovely outdoor patio that is open during the summer. One of it's claims to being "green" is they source their ingredients from local providers (they even list them on the menu). Service is very pleasant and not hurried (not lickety-split, but you don't waste away from hunger either).

Each table gets a bottle of chilled water almost immediately after the very pleasant welcome. The server gives careful and detailed explanations of the featured menu items and is more than willing to answer any questions about the choices on offer. This particular evening (Monday), she announces that it was Family Night which means that for $25, you get a starter (choice of soup or salad), the featured entree, and the featured dessert. All of us agreed this was definitely the best deal of the evening.

We all chose the soup for starters - a mixture of roasted red peppers enhanced with coconut cream and other spices - delightful! The entree was the roasted chicken - it came served with a light and airy biscuit on the bottom layer, followed by a serving of spinach, and finally the juicy chicken breast, topped with a home-made cranberry sauce (I can't easily describe the seasonings used - I can just say it was likely the best roast chicken I've ever had). By this time, all four of us have had our taste buds pleasantly assaulted; but we still had dessert coming - lemon bread pudding topped with creamed ricotta cheese and lemon zest, topped again with fruit sauce - there was no better way to end our meal! I have decided that I would certainly be back several times with the intention of eating through the menu!!

Culina Highlands is open Monday to Saturday for dinner and Sundays for brunch.

Not cheap, but soooo worth it. Lamb kofta was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, with a lively sauce. Steak with bleu/mushroom sauce perfectly done. Chocolate paté is, of course, sinfully sensuous. The place is charming, friendly and unpretentious; service is impeccable.

Firstly, all the food is local and organic...and completely delicious! Culina is located in the historic neighborhood of Highlands and has a definite "crunchy granola" vibe to it (in the most delightful way). The service is incredible and the food is TO DIE FOR! Not to mention the specials. I once had the French toast special that was stuffed with cream cheese and berry mix, served with a poppyseed and strawberry salad and maple sausages. If you want to support local business and eat wonderful food, eat here. My favourite brunch spot! Oh, and they have a fantastic patio!!!
