Walked in and Ordered takeout..stood by the door for 10-15min..while people walked in and out.. No one even asked if I would like to sit and wait at the sushi bar instead..but that's my personal experience.. They had huge pieces of fish on the sushi! I got a tempura inside out roll that was tasty..this place is worth trying out then you can decide for yourself if you would come back again!

Of all the sushi places in Edmonton, Wasabi has outstanding sushi, starting with the not too vinegary not too compacted fresh sushi rice and the expertly cut fish on top, even their wasabi has a light soft texture that is definitely distinctive from other mass produced sushi outlets. Go their large california rolls packed with crab meat and for a special treat their special california roll with grapefruit segments. Another recommendation would be their chop chop (scallop, mayo and tobiko) cones. This is a jewel in a little strip mall and is always packed. Service can be very slow. We would eat there more often but it tends to be expensive and the portions are not very filling (but we could eat and eat...) so expect to order lots and wait...it'll be worth it!

Wasabi is at the top of ACTUAL Japanese run restaurants in Edmonton. Many Japanese restaurants here, but if you like your Japanese food cooked by Chinese and Vietnamese non-trained or concerned about the Japanese culture people, then go see them and save a few bucks.
Wasabi is tops with Koto Japanese Restaurant in St. Albert. Mikado is a close runner up. Mom and Pop, and all homemade. Their Sushi is the freshest and most flavourful. Not a complete menu, but mostly for sushi lovers. All Japanese service with the expected courtesies ever few moments. .

Tempura is light and flakey, like how it's supposed to be (not heavy with batter and overoiled)

One of the few Sushi places in Edmonton which is not staffed with a university student with two hours of training making sushi.
